Cherry Crush

A Twist on Nachos
I found this recipe for these yummy Italian Nachos on a copycat website, after having some that were to die for at an Italian restaurant in SC!  They are supposed to be like the ones at Macaroni Grill.

Won Ton wrappers (you can use regular chips, but these are yummy and probably more healthy):  Cut them into triangles with pizza cutter, spritz them with olive oil, sprinkle on garlic salt, and bake them on a cookie sheet for about 6-7 minutes at 400 degrees.

Cheese sauce:  1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 1/2 cup grated Asiago cheese, 1/4 tsp. of chicken bouillion, 1 tsp. cornstarchHeat the cream until hot but not quite boiling.  Whisk in grated cheese and bouillion and continue heating until it just boils.  Stir in cornstarch and turn down heat. Simmer and stir for 2-3 minutes to thicken.

1/2 lb. Italian sausage, cooked, crumbled, and drained
banana peppers
sliced black olives
chopped green onions
chopped tomato
grated mozzarella cheese

Layer chips and other ingredients in a pyrex dish or casserole.  (I use a Pampered Chef deep dish pizza stone.)  Bake for about 5 minutes, until cheese is melted.  Drizzle cheese sauce over the top.  (The recipe says to put the cheese sauce on the chips first, but they get soggy this way.  Still yummy, but soggy.)

Another twist:  Greek nachos
Layer nacho chips with:
feta cheese
chopped tomato
chopped green onion
black olives
mozzarella cheese
