Talking about bad jobs has gotten me curious. What is the best job you have ever had? Mine is being a full-time mom even if the pay doesn't show up in the bank account and DH is (quietly) unhappy about me not having a paycheck. I wouldn't have traded these past 7 years for Bill Gates' net worth.

Hmm...to date I would have to say being an admissions clerk in an Emergency Room. Blood and Guts don't bother me and I saw a LOT of COOL STUFF!!!
Awww...that's awesome!I wouldn't have traded these past 7 years for Bill Gates' net worth.
I just started the SAHM thing and I know it'll be the most important job I'll ever do. I'll let ya know in a year or two if it is the best. lol.
Prior to being a SAHM I was an Operations Analyst and worked at the same company for 12 years. It was once a great place to work with great co-workers. I had a lot of freedom in my job and schedule so I could stay late during the week and take off early on Friday. My clients and suppliers were all great too.
The company changed a lot (restructuring) though when I was on Maternity leave and I would not want to work there now.
I'd say Mom is my best job, too!
Of all of my out of the house jobs, my current one is the best because I have the coolest boss ever! My most fun job was at the grocery store in high school because we pretty much fooled around all the time- we'd call the service desk & have them page fake people (Amanda Hugginkiss), glue quarters to the floor & go hide in the dairy cooler to watch customers try to pick them up, send new employees looking for extra carts in the "basement" even though there was no basement, putting people's jackets in water & then in the freezers to freeze stiff... ah, good times!

I have had so many wonderful and fun jobs that it's hard to choose which one is the very best of them!
I agree that being a SAHM is by far the most rewarding. I'm also a homeschooling mom so that made it even better and more rewarding.
I also had the honor of being the Veterans' liaison for a US Senator. That was probably the most exciting job I held but I was elected to office once too so that was pretty fun and exciting.
I starting working when I was 15 at a florist and that started me off with a string of great jobs that just keep popping up. Whether they are full time or, like now, part time, all but one have been fabulous.

I'm just going to save this thread until I become a SAHM someday...
No really, I would have to say I liked my college jobs the best - worthwhile but not a lot of responsibility so I wasn't stressed out all the time!

i'm not sure. I really like to try new things all the time and I have absolutely loved every job i've ever had. sure there are always going to be some bad days but for the most part if you go into work with an ultra positive attitude then it can be a great day for all. SO FAR i've loved:
running a craft store
working at ben franklin's
being a day care provider at a jewish summer camp
waitressing
bartending
computer data entry
running a resort
cashiering (i didn't like the pay at this one but i loved the hours)
working in a factory putting windows together
i did the waitressing, bartending and resort thing for the longest at 8 1/2 years working between 3 different jobs.

Mine was the last real job I had. I was an Underwriter for a mortgage company, I had been there for just over 2.5 years. I love the company, my bosses, co-workers, the pay was great and so was the general attitude and environment of the office. Sadly, I was part of the 2nd round of company layoffs due to the slump in the real estate/mortgage industry. Sadly, that company finally shut down a few months ago.
I still keep in touch with a lot of people from that company and we all miss it like crazy and agree no company will ever compare...even if it's a great one.

I did a fish survey for the Department of Natural Resources one summer...I got paid to suntan, and the American boys were cute!
Oh..and I had to weigh and measure the fish they caught...take some samples, etc...The best summer job ever!

I'd have to say it's my current job. I work as a paralegal, secretary, bookkeeper in a small law firm. The work is interesting, the bosses are nice, and I have lots and lots of flexibility to come and go. Both bosses are big into volunteering (one with Rotary and a church group and the other with little league and other sports) so if I want to take time off here and there to go watch Bethany in some sport or something, or volunteer at one the organizations I volunteer for, it's generally not a problem. Plus, technically I get 4 weeks vacation a year, but often I take more. . . like a couple years ago I ended up taking 6, and still got paid for it. Earlier this year when I was out with my back surgery, I didn't have enough vacation or sick time for all the time I took off, but they paid me my full salary anyway. I can work on other stuff at work, as long as I get my work done. Like this afternoon, I met with the President of our local Little League about tournament stuff. . . figuring out the brackets . . . for about 1/2 during work. No biggy.
I love, love, love being a SAHM and a photographer.
I really enjoyed my bank job. I started off as a teller and quickly worked my way up. My job allowed me to travel to different branches on a regular basis and I really enjoyed that. In fact, I was up for a promotion and also in the runnings for the Area Operations Manager position when I decided to quit and be a SAHWife. My DH was working shift work and we never got to see each other. He made enough to keep us comfortable, but me quitting was a good thing for us.
I also enjoyed being a choir director and youth minister. Those were some fun memories and experiences! Very rewarding!

Between being a mom and being a journalist... You all know about the mom stuff... with journalism, it's all the really cool people I've gotten to interview - Jimmy Carter, Neil Donald Walsh, etc...

I'd have to say the job I have now. I'm a paralegal. I don't have to bill hours - that's one of the best parts. AND I have the best boss ever! Most women attorneys (and actually male attorneys) are horrible to work for, but my boss is awesome. We have a mutual respect for one another. I do a ton of work, but so does she. She is NOT a micro manager. She also lets me try drafting documents that I've never done before. She constantly thanks me, always compliments me, always gives me credit for the work I do, and watches my back. I can't tell you the number of times I have overheard her on the phone telling people, "I can't take credit for that - my paralegal did that." We both have young children, so we help each other out here at the office when we need to leave early/come in late for whatever reason. When somebody's rude to me, she'll let them have it. I could go on and on.

Besides being a Mom, my best job was working at Story House Corp. They were a book bindery, and I was a book buyer. Got to meet with publisher reps, got tons of free books, best part was traveling to book shows in places like Chicago and Key West. Plus, I met my husband there. They eventually closed down due to mismanagement. I really miss that job sometimes!

Hmm cant really think of a "best job"..but I really really liked it when I worked in a minor surgery clinic. THere was always something neat to see and do. As a nurse, it is all rewarding, but honestly I am a burnt out nurse after 30 years. I too, really like the blood and guts thing
Peggy
Hmm - that is hard - I've really enjoyed all my jobs! In college I worked up in Park City Utah at a Creperie. That was really fun - loved the local!
I've only had three jobs but my current one is my favorite. I've been here six years this month! I sell modular homes. I do all of our sales, draw floor plans, manage the office ..... And my boss (and his family) is great. The business was originally "family" but it has since changed, but they treat me as if I am family.

best one so far toss up I love working for a florist in HS. But I have to say I love being a nurse now.
My current new job not so much( too many pts) but when I first started I worked in a cardiac rehab telemetry floor and the experience and co workers were WONDERFUL.

i hear ya on being a SAHM which i didn't even really choose,
i guess you could say it chose me... well, after 4 kids it was
just meant to be, even though sometimes i don't want to be
defined as just & think graphics design/fashion/photography
or art teacher would've been my actual calling, but am happy!
