 Lets discuss the young girls (all under 16) in MA that made a pact to get pregnant and raise their kids together.

 I heard that on GMA this morning and at first I thought it was Gloucester NJ - which is 10 minutes from me!  That is terrible.  I had very low self esteem as a teen, but I never ever thought about getting myself pregnant, so I don't know what these girls are thinking!  I think its more like they are looking to get attention from their parents or a way to get kicked out of the house and on their own

 Local news says the girls are claiming the pact thing has been way overblown and that there were really only a few of them involved in that... but who knows!

This is just messed up. Granted, I haven't read anything about this, so I only know snippits of info, but I feel for the babies involved. When are people going to understand that it's the babies involved that are the most important, not these stupid girls!! Sorry...sore spot. As a teacher, I have seen way too much abuse and neglect on behalf of parents who got themselves into siutations and now have kids that they can't/don't want to take care of. It breaks my heart.

 17 girls were involved, now claiming that they made the pact afterward but there are really too many questions left unanswered - such as repeated pregnancy tests in the nurses office, lots of "high fives" when they found out they were pregnant, one was impregnated by a homeless man!! They are all between the ages of 15-17 and had nothing else going for them in life!

The school board president is blaming the parents, the mayor is blaming the school and the parents and the parents are blaming the school. I say there is plenty of blame to go around so stop pointing fingers and figure out what to do so this never happens again. This is truly a travesty for such a small town!

 its ridiculous!! I read a couple articles on MSN yesterday and one said that these girls are getting pregnant because the tiny, cut off town they live in is loosing jobs and being a mother was potentially the only way these girls could see a good future for themselves. What a load of BULL! If that is the case then it is everyones fault -parents, school, town- for not helping these kids understand that the world is a big place and they have endless options waiting for them. Having a baby is not necessarily gonna help them grow up and become better people.  I also read that the school nurse quit in defiance of the school turning down her requests to educate and supply birth control to the students. Plus the school has a day care center IN THE SCHOOL! that screams "its okay, get pregnant" to me personally. What about the parents... they are just to blame for letting their teens run amuck.

This is disturbing on so many levels, but ultimately the parents need to shoulder the responsibility.  I don't understand why they are blaming the school - and I don't understand why parents think that the schools should be raising their children (in general that seems to be the attitude of a lot of parents these days).
