Have you ever scrapped just to create the art? I have an idea for a page I'd like to do, but in order to do it, my pic will be small and to be honest, I think the page itself would take center stage. What do you think of this type of scrapbook page?
I know I can always scrap the picture again later, but...well I know that it will involve a complicated extraction, so maybe I"m just trying to talk myself out of it.
If you've done this type of page, would you share it with me?
Thanks!

On a molecular level, I'm very busy.
Yes.
To me scrapbooking is a creative outlet. Yes, I am preserving memories----but I could do that with a regular photo album and a journal.
Go for it.

Rosa sat so that Martin could walk. Martin walked so that Barack could run. Barack ran so that our children could fly.
I don't do a whole lot of that kind of page - for me it's usually about the pictures. I've always admired crafters who can do the really arty pages, though.
I think the closest I came was this page, which was more about me spending hours trying to make that notebook look authentic than anything else! LOL!

Wow Cass! I totally missed that one in the gallery. It's great! Very realistic and super shadowing!

I don't do it much, but I really enjoy seeing the art others create. It's just that I'm so far behind on my photos that I don't take the time if I'm not doing it to preserve a memory. It was a stretch for me to do pages with just one photo....all my early pages had several. But, with digi, I do more one photo pages because I don't feel like I'm spending a ton of money for just one picture and the time involved is generally less for me than with paper scrapping. The only paper pages I have done with one photo are ones where I only had one photo or it is a large photo.

If you want to scrap it, then do it! You know we'd all love to see what you create.
We all scrap for different reasons. Personally, I don't think I would ever (never say never - lol) do that; I sure do like seeing others' artsy pages! I always want my photos to be the center of attention, and then the journaling. I want the scrapping to enhance, not take center stage. For me, it's still a creative outlet. And truly, there's not right or wrong way to scrapbook. Scrapbooking to me is a personal thing. Others may dislike what I do, but it doesn't matter to me, because I'm scrapping for my family and me, not for anyone else.

Thanks! But I can't take any credit for the shadowing - it was just the PSE button. I didn't know the good shadowing secrets back then!

I don't do it often, but much of what is hanging in my house is somesort of digital creation. I just printed out a 16x20 poster and framed it and it looks awesome, I made it with digital elements and papers, but there aren't any pictures in it...so I wouldn't call it scrapbooking!
Tracy I say go for it. I am sure it will look awesome!!!!

-If it's scrappy it makes me happy!
I love pages like that and I definitely love this hobby for the act of creating itself, not just the preservation. DOOoooo Itttttt!
You know you want to do it!!
Can't wait to see the finished result.

I am, I am!
I always feel guilty when I want to do that sort of thing because it's not really scrapbooking. Well, not in the traditional sense anyway. It's not artsty fartsy, it's a little scene I'm creating. Kinda fun.

I used to do a lot more altered art than I do now and for those pieces - altered canvases and such - I always did them for art sake and not for the photos themselves. I will upload two of my very favorites in the gallery.
You shouldn't feel guilty, Tracy! It may not be scrapbooking in the traditional sense, but you're still creating art. And I think most scrapbook pages fit that bill also.

So this isn't coming out exactly like I'd hoped, but here it is. I'm stuck. The tree looks like it needs something on the trunk.
