It's good that you pulled them out of there, but I agree that she should be reported - she could be verbally abusing the other kids!

You can call the State Licensing Agency & report issues &also check if other reports have been filed against her before. Good luck with your search. I hope you find something much better for your kids.

I'd report her - most places require daycare providers to have a license. That is absolutely unacceptable behaviour.

My gosh!  You did the right thing, I hope you find other care very soon.  Mary deserves much better than that.

That is really scary. Hope you are able to find alternative daycare. No one needs to be in that situation.

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
Completely unacceptable to talk to you in that manner!  I'm glad you're done with her.  But for the record, if I had other kids in the house and someone brought me food for just one I'd be put out.  I'd have "x" amount of other kids wanting what the one kid had.  Again, no reason to lose your mind on someone, but I can see her dilemma.

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
i take care of 2 babies,  one is 16 months and the other is 18 months old.  Both from completely different families.  I would never think about talking to one of the parents in that manner.  If she spoke to you that way i would hate to see how she speaks to the kids.  The kids share there snacks i think its important for them to learn very early that they should share.  And it works.  As they are eating there cookies, fruit snacks, cut up fruit.  they actually hand the snacks to each other.  Its so cute.  And lunch well they eat there own food.  Moms pack each one what they are supposed to eat. the 16m old's mom brings me a bag of food for the week.  while the 18 m old's mom packs everyday something different.  I make them breakfast.

I love those babies like if they were mine.  And i agree with the rest of the people that said you should report her.  be glad that she yelled at you and not at one of your kids, at least this way you could react.

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
Even if she had a food policy, once you explained it to her, she could have just said fine and put the sack aside. Mary probably would have forgotten about it anyways. For her to talk to you that like in front of your child is just plain scary. Seriously, she does not sound like someone that I would want watching any kids. REPORT HER!!

Good for you and Mary! I hope you find a great fit for childcare :)

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
Wow!  I am sure glad you got your daughter out of there.  What totally unacceptable behavior for a child care provider.
When I did day care, occasionally some of the kids would bring snacks to share with the others.  The one who brought the snack was so proud, and the rest of the kids were excited to eat it.  If I would have had a problem with it, I certainly would have discussed it with the parent, but not with the children around.  I probably had some kids who did the same thing as Mary - brought their own sack lunch, because an older sibling had one to take to school.  Once again, I had no problem with that.  It just meant that I had one less lunch to fix.

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
Thanks girls I feel better about it now. Mary is so happy that she doesn't have to go back anymore. As far as her policy, we did talk about it and even though Mary was going hungry most days at her house, because the stupid woman kept putting things on her plate that she KNEW Mary didn't like, this was the first time I let her bring something. I had talked to the lady about bringing a lunchbox with an empty container in it so that maybe Mary would think it came from home and she seemed ok with that but as far as she knew that bag could have been empty and she didn't even stop to think before she started to yell at me. And if she didn't eat EVERYTHING on her plate she didn't get a snack. I also found out over the weekend that Mary didn't something wrong, not related to lunch, and her snack got taken away. So I have been paying that lady to not feed my child and yell at her.

The girls have told me that she did yell at the kids ALOT so I'm glad to be rid of her.

Oh and this isn't the first time that she talked to me with disrespect, this was just the straw that broke the camels back.
I am looking into reporting her too.
Thanks again girls!

Re: Remember my issues with the lady keeping Mary?
Oh, HELL YEAH if I had kids and found out that my child care provider was a whack job like her, I'd report her donkey in a flash. She should NOT be taking care of children. All I can think of are those poor children left there with her every day. It makes me shudder.

Please think about it?
