DH and I were completely shocked, but it kind of makes sense. I think Michael Johns and David Cook are splitting votes, because they appeal to the same type of audience. The others are more completely different. I don't think the show is rigged. I know I don't take time to vote and I believe alot of others like me are the same. Who is voting the most.....teenagers! Specifically teenage girls! It is why Chris Daughtry went home so soon, and it is why Blake Lewis stuck around to the finale, even though he didn't have the best voice. I think the most shocked, though, was Carly Smithson. She was sure it would be her, I think.

I do not fully follow the show-- but I know my mom and dd were very upset. They thought it was Kristi's time to go.

I agree, I didn't think he would win it, but definately didn't think that he would go so soon. He does, IMHO have one of the better voices on the show.

i am so sad that is he gone and just sat there with my mouth hanging open when they said he was gone!!! I too hope that he can get a good deal and start recording tomorrow!!!

Actually, according to Nielson, the largest voting demographics is between 38 and 52. Go figure. That's why David A and Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood do so well and Bo Bice and Chris D and David Cook will never will. Even though I'm in that age group, most older voters prefer "cute,cuddly" people.

I think the worst of it all was the way Ryan did it. "Last year we didn't vote off anyone... but tough... you're gone any way"

I didn't mean it was literally rigged. I'm sorry. I alway forget that people on MBs aren't here with me and can't see me rolling my eyes.
It just seems like it some times. The good ones leave and we're stuck with the leftovers.

I don't watch it but judging from previous replies and the history of "booting" off favorite IDOLS, here's my theory: It's rigged and a way to keep the audience coming back to see who wins and took the place away from THEIR favorite idol. Just my theory.

Personally, I don't see the appeal of reality shows and find it hard to get into them at all. I tried though...

Actually, I think Chris D is doing pretty dang well for himself.

Yeah, I think Chris Daughtry is lucky not to have won....he got started on his own album sooner and had creative control and did you hear Ryan say the other night on Idol Gives Back that he had the number one selling record of 2007? I figure that coming in 2nd or 3rd or 4th (or even 10th) has nothing to do with the talent of the singer and everything to do with a popularity contest. Michael Johns will be fine, I think.
