Wasps or hornets.  I was stung once in the middle of a pasture and it really hurt, but I couldn't do anything about it.Where is Lorikeet Landing?  I would so enjoy that!  They are one of my favorite birds.

Rhonda,I was in a car accident, not a bad one, but my cousin was killed in one when he was 26. I started this fear soon after I had kids and now it just gets worse and worse the more I don't drive.Gosh, I am glad to see I am not alone on this. It drives my husband crazy too. I have had panic attacks also where I actually had to pull my car over and regroup myself for a while.

Carrie, you're not alone. My mother is so terrified that she never got her license!! My dad even tried buying her a car to entice her one year, but no dice.
On a molecular level, I'm very busy.

The fear of driving seems to commonly come on for women after having children...I wonder if it's in some way a form of post partum depression? My good friend and neighbor has a horrible fear of freeway driving...she can go anywhere in town, but don't make her drive on the highway or you're bound for a panic attack. Seems so contrary to her usual take charge attitude and it happened shortly after the birth of her twins 14 yrs ago. I am claustrophobic...elevators freak me out, riding in cars without plenty of air blowing on me either makes me sick or crazy...drives dh nuts!

I would have to go with mice. My cat once brought one to me that wasn't dead and since it took off under my bed I freaked out and almost got my head hit by the ceiling fan when I jumped up on the bed. It was the middle of the night on a Friday but I still called three people to see if I could go to their house. A friend 40 minutes away finally answered and I ended up staying at her house until Sunday afternoon at 4:00. I slept at my sister's on Sunday night and maintenance caught and disposed of the darn thing on Monday while I was at work.I know that mice travel in multiples, but as long as I don't see them I can deal with the fact that they exist. They were coming over to my townhouse from my next door neighbor (gross disgusting slobs) through a spot in the rafters in the basement. I saw one other one after that, but my cat got it and killed it while I was gone and I made the slob from next door come dispose of it. The hole has now been sealed and maintenance put traps on the neighbor's side of the hole so they wouldn't get there alive anyway.

Big fear of heights.I'm horrible with heights completely. You know the metal stairs where you can see through them as you walk up them, nope, can't do it cuz I can see down and the height scares me. I'm holding onto the railing for dear life! Even if I'm only above the ground like ten feet, looking down freaks me out completely. And I even know that if I did fall, it's such a short distance that I would be fine. But nope, it's just the height and looking down that I can't handle. I never had anything traumatizing happen to me, and I know when I was a kid, heights never bugged me. I'd say it started when I was about 15. Isn't that weird??

I have "gephyrophobia." Fear of bridges.  And have had it since I was a child...Been to more pyschiatrists/hypnotists/counselors then you could shake a stick at but it hasn't helped.  At first my hands get sweaty, then I start to feel nauseous and a little panicky, And that's BEFORE I even get near the bridge! By the time I actually get to the beginning of it, my whole body is sweating and I feel like my throat is going to close up.  It really depends on the size and distance across the bridge. The Tacoma Narrows is EXACTLY one mile long (yes, I measured it so I'd know approximately how long I'd be on it!).  If I don't look off to the sides and concentrate on the vehicle in front of me, I can get across fairly well... but if there's bad traffic and it's a stop and go situation... I'm almost frantic by the time I reach the other side and I usually have to pull over as soon as it's safe and regroup. That's the only fear that really affects my day to day routine though...

I am SO glad I am not the only one! Seriously, I have a 5 year old and have only driven him somewhere ONCE and it was three blocks away. I have never driven my other two kids. Poor Jake, we've been married over 6 years now and he drives EVERYWHERE and has the entire time. It started out when I was preggo and couldn't concentrate. I already wasn't comfortable with driving but it was greatly enhanced then and got worse over the years.I am also a horrible back seat driver. It's really hard for me not to jump when we are riding along. Jake is always telling me to stop or I will distract him. But I always feel like he is too fast!

My mom has a big fear of heights. When she drives over bridges she has to be as close to the center as possible, and even then I think she kind of drives with her eyes closed till she's over.Every once in a while I'll have a nightmare involving causeways - I've never driven on one, but for some reason have a big fear of those. For a period of time sometime after the age of 6 until I got married, I was terrified of birds. Couldn't go into pet stores where they had parrots out, couldn't visit houses where they'd let out their parakeets. But when I was 5 I was part of the parrot show when we visited Disney and it didn't bother me. And suddenly one year I just got over it. So I'm wondering...past life influence on present day?

I guess it is not really a phobia, but I really hate scary movies.  I don't like being scared in my head, if that makes sense lol.   Spiders don't scare me because I just squish them.  I used to have a python growing up and mice are gross, but don't really freak me out. I feel for you ladies with the fear of driving that must be really hard.  I have a good friend who has a real phobia of doctors and it really impacts her live because she and her hubby want children, but need to see a fertility doctor, but she is so afraid. I have even been to the doctors office with her and she checked in and sat down and started having a panic attack and we had to leave.

It would have to be small spaces. But at least I know why I have that fear. When I was in kindergarden my brother and I were playingin the garage where the clother washer and dryer are.  He got in and I promised not to close the door. Then I got in and he slammed the door shut, well it was set to turn on when the door was shut. I can't tell you how long I was in there but I remember being burned and bruised and was sent to school cover with bandages taped to my burns with a note saying I wasn't abused.I didn't  think it affected me that much until I got an MRI of my knee. I wasn't even in the machine but I nearly threw-up and passed out.  The tech guy said I was the worst he had ever seen and I I would need to be put to sleep if I ever needed it done again. The worst part of it is now that when ever I hear an MRI on a TV show like ER or House I start flipping out, I can't control it. I guess it's the sound I must have made while i was in the dryer and I just kept it buried until I heard it again during the MRI.

I'd say my worst one is heights and I know its getting worse as I get older. just looking at a picture where the cliff drops straight down makes me feel as if I'm falling.
