I know, I know, it's a fascinating topic! In our county we are currently allowed two bags of garbage per week. There are size and weight restrictions on those bags. Recycling is big around here, as it should be, and we can recycle as much as we want. As well everyone has a composter. The current system works well for us because I have two in diapers. Starting next year though, we will only be allowed to throw out one bag per week. I hope ds is toilet trained by then or it is gonna cost me!!Where do you live and are there restrictions on garbage?
One bag per week? Wow - we don't have any restrictions yet in CT. I wish people recycled more around here though - it's just newspapers, bottles, cans.

None that I know of. We use rolling trash bins and ours hardly ever gets full. We also recycle.
Wow, restrictions on garbage, really? I pay for garbage pickup on my electric bill, they'd better not give me any restrictions. Of course, most weeks we only have one or two bags worth (and we do recycle, we have a bin for that).
Germany's the same way... my brother has to separate and rinse out EVERYTHING! And if there's ANY food at all... they won't take the bag.
we don't have restrictions on how many but we have to pay $1.75 per bag
No restrictions...but we don't actually have trash service. We haul our non burnable/ non recycleable to dh's parent's dumpster. They live about 1 min. away.Jenna
We have a container, whatever fits in it with the lid closed.
as much that will fix in the city trash container that they provide. But if I have a party that week, you may see me walking my strret for room in another container.

I should add that I can throw out as much as I want if I pay for each extra bag.Right now garbage pickup is taken care of by the town and we pay land taxes that take care of those costs which is pretty standard.I could easily do one bag a week if there were no diapers. I don't think cloth diapers are the solution for me either because my hydro rates are huge during the day and I am not going to wait until bedtime to do laundry. Ok, now I have started on the hydro rates.
OMG... Late But if I have a party that week, you may see me walking my strret for room in another container. I've seen you on the street, just saying!
We have a wheeled trashed can also...but it's never filled to the top. We also recycle a ton more...sometimes that bin is overflowing...and we had a box filled with recyclables...but never have any restrictions. Plus..we have 2 different trash companies...some neighbors use one...so of us use another...personal preference...I guess!

We have two cans and get fined by our HOA if we dont put them away by the next day. Courtesy of the HOA police ;-(

Not alot here...we are charged by the size of our can. My dh is a cheapo who will only pay for the small. Luckily we got a trash compactor so we have always been able to fit. The big stuff I just haul to his dumpster at work!We recycle alot here too...I'll give the city the $ for the cardboard and paper, but my son recycles the bottles, cans and glass for $
seriously...a LOT. But we recycle, and our trashman takes that, too.
They will take as much as you can put out. They do have requirements for tree branches, they have to be tied together and only so many, trunks have to be cut down to certain size.We get trash picked up twice a week. One day is designated heavy trash day for the big items. They do request that if it is really big like a sofa that you call ahead so they can be prepared with the truck with the special lifting claw.My half sisters out in the San Franciso area have once a week pickup and big limits. I had to keep telling them when they were over here to help clean out my mother's house that we did not need to rent a dumpster. It did not matter how many bags we filled, they would take them all, and any old yucky furniture, too. I think the trash guys did cuss me plenty when I put out 22 bags!!!A friend of mine out in Southern Californa has once a week pick up and 3 city provided dumpsters. One dumpster is green for lawn clippings, another is blue for recycleables and the third is red for everything else. It's 3 different trucks that make the rounds emptying them.
whatever I can put on the curb and the garbage men do not leave behind!!
