Merry Christmas!
'Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.
Why the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a " Holiday ".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets are hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "DreamTree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday !

Merry Christmas!
I celebrate Christmas and it's my favorite holiday. But, if someone says "Happy Holidays" to me, I say "thank you - happy holidays to you, as well" because:1) they're offering me well wishes and I appreciate that and want to reciprocate; and2) i was raised well and like to be polite.why complain about things that are said in positivity?  i will never be able to figure that one out.  But, whatever.

Merry Christmas!
Yes, there is.

Some people are offended becasue they may not believe in Christ - the reason for Christmas in the first place.   They may celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday (the tree, the gifts, Santa, etc - but no religion)

Others may not be Christian (but Jewish, Muslim or other non Christian based religion, or no religion) and therefore it may not be politically correct to say Merry Christmas to them.

I've had Jewish and Muslim friends wish me a Merry Christmas and I've wished them a Happy Hannukah or a good Ramadan.    (never did find the correct term for the ramadan thing)

I choose to say Merry Christmas because that is what I believe in.  I do not get offended if someone tells me happy holiday. I think you misunderstood my post Heather.

Merry Christmas!
We were just talking about this at work this morning. It feels like we bend over so far backwards to not offend anyone, that we're losing our own holiday identities. Darn it, my tree goes right side up, my Santa is fat, and I'll wish anyone and everyone Merry Christmas!

umm...if i were in the states, i would say "merry christmas" though am muslim, i think if the holiday is originally for celebrating x-mas then its merry x-mas.. i dont see why anyone would be offended.and for ramadan its : ramadan kareem ( kareem as in generous, so ppl should act generous and kind to one another)

dina, a lot of people get their panties in a bunch of a salesperson says "happy holidays" to them instead of "merry christmas." many stores here have a policy of saying "hh" instead of anything secular so that it's inclusive to all their customers.  i think it's nice to be inclusive.  so, that's what i was being snarky about.dianagirly, i'm sorry - i didn't mean to make my post sound like it was directed to you... in a way, it was directed to my mother who calls me each year to complain when someone has the audacity to wish her a happy holidays.  lol
