Ok, I need some help here. I'm just stumped as to what all to serve. So far I have the following...1. Veggie and Fruit tray. I need some great dips, any suggestions? I'd thought about a plain ranch dip, but I'd like something more festive. Does anyone have a great fruit dip? I'm not afraid to add a little brandy to it either.2. Seafood station ... Boiled shrimp with dipping sauces. Smoked salmon on toast points with cream cheese and capers. (I've got this covered!)3. Carved Beef station with Tomato Basil and plain rolls. Lauras scalloped potatoes with nutmeg. (I've got this covered!)4. Dessert table ... I'm ordering a Yule Log from the local bakery. But what else can I serve? I'd like everything to be bite-size or precut. I was thinking some of those pecan tarts with the cream cheese crust. I can't for the life of me find my recipe.Or and I'll need some table decorations. Maybe something really festive for the dessert table. Any ideas??Oh, and I need to pull this off this Saturday night.
Do you have any clear glass containers that you could put glass bulbs in? Or jars and put out candies like peppermint twists, candy canes, etc....heck you could label it the "candy bar". See if the bakery offers mini cupcakes and order a couple dozen red velvet ones, those are so great in color and taste...perfect for the holidays. Maybe they could pipe a poinsettia on each one.Another decoration idea is just to pick a color, like red and then go throughout the house gathering all that is red and bring it to the main room that the guests will be in. Candles would be great, too...but get ones that don't need tending so pillars would work well. For the fruit dip, why not make a cool whip based one and add some sort of flavoring or heck, leave it plain. To make it more festive, you could add food coloring or sprinkles in appropriate colors. I always love french onion dip, I just buy the mix at the store and put it into the sour cream.Good luck! HTH a little.
Ohh, love the idea of finding containers and filling them with color! Great idea.I'm going to do the coolwhip dip, maybe I can add something to it... Rum? LOL
Do you have a container store by you? They have these great glass jars to fill for centerpieces. Also for dessert how about mini cheesecakes. A dip that we always serve is spinace dip that you take a round loaf of bread, take the center out and put dip in the center.

Ohh, that dip sounds yummy!!!I'm headed to the container store in the am.. after the liquor store makes their delivery!
