I don't think those for the most part are really scrapbooking. They aren't preserving any memories because you don't see the rest of the photo to get the context and there's no journaling telling a story. To me they are their own form of photo art.

immom2anc wrote:I'll venture digi too (although I do agree with flat stickers for paper scrapping)... but for me its the large amounts of white space with a teeny tiny photo, a cluster of embellis and no journaling. Its pretty, but definitely not for me.

I'm not a fan of this look, but I think it's still going strong. I get newsletters from other sites and ALL of the layouts by their CT are this style.

eyelets - I just don't use them much anymore unless I am in a contest with eyelets or something

On the digi side, I'm with most of those here, I don't do the fairytale thing. I think it is beautiful as an art piece, but I wouldn't really say it is scrapbooking, either.

I like some white space, but it seems like I see so many layouts with the smallest photo and almost all white space.

For paper, I love rub-ons! LOL! But, I'm sort of over my flower fixation. Not every layout needs a flower, but I have enough in my stash to put some on every layout. :waiting:

Hrm..

Stickers- I love using them mainly for cards/etc.. but yeah I do the 3d embellishments stickers more.. I just wish they weren't as pricey as they are.

Rub-ons_I don't really like them.. I just bought some of those dollar target one's for valentines.. I didn't realize if the paper underneath the rubons isn't there.. Yeah if you set it on something.. they come off.. So a bit annoyed by that.. Just depends on what they are. I love the color ones and basic grey/etc though..

Chipboard- I love and hate it. .I love it cause it's fun but hate that I got a bunch of it that won't fit into anything i'm working on most of the time.. I love the grungeboard/plain chipboard cause I can decorate it how I want to.

Eyelets.. I got the big bite and still have yet to use it.. Got annoyed with it.. I think I want to get the original crop a dile.. I got alot of eyelets.. Just feels like such a hassle..

Close up face only photos. I don't mind them occassionally -- I love to see expression on faces -- but I'm getting tired of seeing only faces surrounded by pretty embellishments.

I would love to see more hair styles, clothes and some background. It's so fun to look back at old photographs and see the dress-up fashions and decorating trends of the "good old days" and I love to look at other people's layouts and try to get a sense of where they are and what they like to surround themselves with. :)

Re: What trends have jumped your shark?
OMG - totally cracked up at the vegi stickers!!

I never understood skulls in the first place. I STILL love birds and butterflies and most things that fly, unless it is clouds. I still think owls are cute, but they have their place. Great for birthday cards and the "wise crack". Birds can be cute or realistic - I have stamps with both styles and love them both.

Fibers - definitely a done deal, I gave most away but DD likes to play with them - they make great bridles and reins on toy horses - and pretty too!

Woodland animals...yeah, they are cute, but not something I would necessarily reach for to put on my pages. Whimsy has in general, not who I am.

Preach it, sistah! lol - I totally agree, and it seems like 99% of the Quickpages designers make these days are like this. (I'm just a beginner in digi & have way too many freebies to buy much, but I love looking through all the new products!!) And, slightly hypocritically, I will have to admit I'm currently working on a digi lo w/1 photo and cluster, but it's not teeny and there's journaling. So there.

Let's see... I never did use eyelets. Don't use fiber much though I still like it. Don't really use my cutting system or Journaltopia (I used to journal on curves quite a bit or around circular pics...). Still LOVE birds & owls! :) Not a big fan of unfinished chipboard because it's such a pain. Still using some stickers & rub-ons though not tons.
