This month's Digi Technique Challenge is all about making your own elements. If you took Kristi's Digi Doodles class at the last crop, then you're already half way there to creating your own unique embellishments. If you missed it, go ahead and give it look, you can find it here: Digi Doodles
This is my example layout. On this layout, I created the ribbons tabs by photographing them and extracting them using the same techniques described in Kristi's class (except I didn't go on to make this a brush). Once it was extracted, I saved it as a png file. Now they're ready to use on any layout I want in the future.
Here's the picture I extracted from:
You're only limited by your own imagination here ladies. Here are some other elements I've created myself.
On this layout (which is one of my all times faves) The black frame, the shelf and the pocket watch were all extracted and saved as png's for future use. For the frame, I inserted a blank piece of white paper into the frame to make the extraction process easier and then shot it right on the wall.
I'll be around today, so please ask me any questions you have about how to create your own elements and I will do my best to answer them for you.
Neato, Tracy.

Awesome. I have pictures of some objects that I will try to make into "elements" . SInce today is DSD, I think that is a good reason to do it today!

Wow..that's pretty cool.
This is so amazing!!! I think I'm going to start out with something simple like movie ticket stubs though. Although a photo frame has straight edges too... I have a hard enough time with extractions as it is - LOL!

The trick is really in the photography. If you can get a nice picture on a contrasting background, that magic wand will do all the work for you.
On a molecular level, I'm very busy.
I haven't made my own, but Tracy was so kind to send me one of the sheves and frame she made...here is a LO I did....
this is her little black frame...

this is way cool! I played around with this last week, but wasn't quite sure how to do it. Now I will try it again! Thanks!
