Re: what does 'ready to report' mean

Hi there Didactylos!
As a newbie to this game, I simply installed boinc and boinc-manager via aptitude on my debian notebook and after a few hiccups managed to get a ball rolling, and now my little laptop is sitting on my dining room table working it's little butt off all day and night for Team Ufie.
However, I have one phone line and it's shared between talking and internetting, so it's not "always on". So to come home after a days office grind and find that the boinc manager has been trying every minute for the last 3 hours to connect to the internet was a little surprising, particularly as the modem is on the firewall and not set to dial on demand. It seems to me to be a bit of a waste of log space to have these repeated messages relating to a condition that ain't gunna change in the short term.
I've had a bit of a poke around and I can't see (feel free to call me blind!) where I can tell boinc to only try every hour/three/half day/whatever to connect up for the next thing to do &/or return results back to base.
Are you able to offer me some simple pointers to where these options can be 'tweaked'?
Thanks matie! & Go Ufies! :-)

Re: what does 'ready to report' mean

Hello nzPhreadde,
I no longer use dialup, but it is discussed here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dialup.php

One of the things discussed is Preference, which you get to by selecting My Grid - Device Manager - Device Profiles and clicking on your active profile. It has 'Connect to the Internet only between:' for setting daily time windows and also 'Confirm before connecting to Internet?' and 'Disconnect when done?'. The BOINC Manager allows you to select Advanced - Options - Connections.
