the first unit you get, you are also downloading the 'program' that runs that type of unit (in this case, faah = fight aids at home).

Hello @nne,
----------------------------------------The messages produced by BOINC are usually unimportant. They are mainly useful for debugging. You will receive messages at the start, telling you what sort of computer system you have and what your ID number is. Then you will receive messages while downloading all the files that make up a work unit. You will receive messages when BOINC connects to the BOINC scheduler server requesting more work. You will receive messages when BOINC downloads changes to your preferences. You will receive messages if a work unit is suspended in order to switch to another task. You will receive messages when uploading results from a completed work unit. You will receive messages whenever BOINC runs the benchmark routine to see how fast your computer is (using the Whetstone benchmark for floating-point and the Dhrystone benchmark for integer mathematics). Just remember that when you start BOINC one of the messages will list your ID number, which you have to use when reporting a problem to the WCG staff. One other thing - BOINC only shows messages written after BOINC starts running. But they are also written to a permanent text file in Program Files/BOINC named stdoutdae.txt. If you are trying to deal with a problem and restart BOINC, you can always read the old messages in stdoutdae.txt using Wordpad. Lawrence Added: Oops. I forgot that you are running an Apple. Your file structure might use different names. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 18, 2006 10:00:45 PM] |

BOINC puts error messages in red so you won't miss them.

That's why I asked. I don't think that there's a difference in the file structure between a PC and an Apple computer. Thank you, anyway ! :) Now I'm wondering why I didn't receive notice of your answers. This thread shows in "My Watch" list, though ... :( Have a good Sunday, all ! :) |
