Re: Problem unit ?

Hi, I just noticed that I have the exact same problem on one of my computers (Device ID #428750).

It had been running for more than 10 hours, 0% completed.

Exited the application and then started it again. Don't know if that's even supposed to help, but tried it anyway. Now it's been at it again for 25 minutes at 100% CPU but it shows no progress at all...

Could mention that device #431815 seems to handle a different wu for this project pretty well, being at 95% after nearly 3 hours.

Anyway, I hope this in some way will help you find the problem.

Re: Problem unit ?

Disinfect,

I have downloaded the workunit that you were attempting to crunch on the bad host and we're looking into it. Please end the process in your taskmanager. It'll cause your agent to download a new workunit and start crunching.

Re: Problem unit ?

just one more note:

exiting wcg and restarting wcg does not seem to change anything.

'logging off' and then back on to windows does not seem to change anything.

re-starting the computer does not seem to change anything.

terminating the process did start a (new?) unit.

hope that helps a little smile

EDIT: There was a slight change actually in the first 3 cases above. That is, the time clock started again from zero.

Re: Problem unit ?

I have the same problem here - been running for 6 hours and still on 0%

Device ID 410250.

I'll kill the process and download a new one.

Re: Problem unit ?

While we are on this topic ....
I'm running Vista on one machine ...this morning I logged on to it to find a mysterious crash over night ....no big deal Vista is in beta soooo... but after getting home from work I found WU.....B05513_0237_CTMA3C2-6-25-2-c1_1...an HDC WU @almost 13 hours CPU time ....00000000% and no decrease in projected time (2:50:03) this is with Boinc. Could be the WU, could be Vista ..I don't know?!?!?!but as of right now none of the quoram have completed this WU ...this is very strange that after hhmmmm....19 hours of crunching none of us have completed a 3 hour WU!?!?!?

edit: I suspended the above WU and moved on to the next, it's working fine!!!!

Re: Problem unit ?

Sport,

Can you please post that in the Help Defeat Cancer forums as it is not part of this issue.

Now on to the problem workunit for Genome Comparison...We have found what is causing this problem. If you have a workunit that is sitting at 0% (with CPU being used) for over an hour, please cancel these work unit by aborting them in BOINC or ending the process in your task manager. We are going to be testing the application update before we release it.

Sorry for this problem and thank you for your patience and participation!

Re: Problem unit ?

Update -

2 more blank units on Device ID#472987, gave up trying.
1 more blank unit on Device ID#473803 before getting a good one.

New -

1 blank unit on Device ID#345145 before getting a good one.
4 blank units on Device ID #324174, gave up.

That last one did it for me. FAH is the only stable project you've got left so I've switched everything over to that. Sorry, but this is becoming a little TOO hands on for a passive volunteer endevour.

Good luck trying to figure this out.

Re: Problem unit ?

John,

This project has the smallest footprint and the initial Beta test has been released. The UD version will be released later when it gets finished being tested.
