Hi all,
My firewall is filtering https port, and all my requests through our proxy are rejected because communication protocol uses https port (http over ssl) with clear "POST " requests ??? How can i configure my client to use port 80 to post feature ? Thanks... Nicolas |

The UD agent has no configuration options.
If you need more flexibility, then you could try the BOINC agent, but again BOINC has had issues with SSL over proxies. Your best bet is to configure your firewall (what do you use, by the way?) to allow all WCG communication. |

Too bad
Well, in fact, i am using a french firewall (Arkoon Network Security , www.Arkoon.net) which had a filtering module for ssl. So, as POST is not SSL, it can not pass through httpS channel, but may be allowed through http channel. and i am not able to configure my firewall ... I will try to use boinc so .. Thx. |

Bonjour Nicolas,
----------------------------------------just looked at your stats and with 256 days cumulative, one might think something changed on your end to stop UD...... U could of course report it to Arkoon. Computer Associates also developed a recent issue with the UD Agent and they fixed it within 24 hours or so. There are several good 'free' firewalls that have no issue with UD. They have been discussed on this forum. cheers

Seems to be a little confusion of terms here.
POST is just an HTTP method. SSL is a security layer in between TCP and HTTP. HTTP over SSL (HTTPS) usually uses port 443, instead of the default HTTP port (80). Now, my recollection is that the WCG UD agent uses a proprietary encryption protocol (not SSL) on port 443. This is presumably the odd behaviour you are reporting, and I think it has been reported before. |

I had the same problem... http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4585#36140 We use Websence for content filtering and as you mentioned the UD agent uses port 443 but does not send it SSL so websence kicks it and it won't go through. Boinc worked fine for my issue. In that old post I though it was our Checkpoint firewall doing this but I was wrong, it was WebSence. |

Could or could not be related, but on another DC using a slightly earlier version of UD Agent (2814, rather than 2844), a member there identified empirically a McAfee component as the culprit:
----------------------------------------"The first thing I have done when I was not able to connect it was exactly to uninstall McAfee... and everything worked fine again... the problem was to identify exactly what combination of applications from the McAfee Internet Security Suite (ISS9) was causing the problem... Yesterday after uninstalling the Spamkiller at least I was able to send my stats... I'm not still very confident that it's going to work again when it ends the actual task."
