to Graham , thx for the info at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=128 8 but I was disappointed in the blandness/ no colour in the post . like the missing boldness and emfacis [see my colour definitions in 2004].
----------------------------------------And, WHERE is the LINUX support forum ?? I d/l [B.O.I.N.C.] @ BERKELEY dot EDU to get a idle laptop w/ WindozXPsp2 to contribute [ as the GRID died a few months ago-see posts], and then d/l boinc to my LINDOWS/Lindspere machine and fought w/ it for an hour, concluding #1: the .SHell needed some other supporting package #2: I havent PAID $99 to LinDoz for 2 Yrs. so what should I expect other than Inet and eMail. Also, as a suggestion: could you stop those FLAMERZ at the post asking for a Comm. Advisor to do something. [ I'm glad that I liquidated my IBM stock at $150 - lol] ps: I'm too lazy to fix GIFs & Icon links- that's what CPU's are for. CIAO Are You REALLY Computing?![]() ![]() |

Hi UNiRAC,
There are some people who can give general LINUX support in the BOINC forum, but you would be surprised at how many familiar names can be found over on the DC Zone at http://forum.thedczone.com/ Try Software over there and Mousie or others will probably quickly respond. We don't have many LINUX posts on this board yet. Lawrence |

I don't recall there being any additional packages when I tried the linux client here, though I suppose it may vary from distro to distro. Do you recall which package?
----------------------------------------If you're looking for a less costly way, you might want to check out Freespire, from the same people that brought you Linspire/Lindows, but for free this time. Ubuntu is another user-friendly distro you might check out - they just released a new version the other day, actually. As Lawrence said, I'm sure there are people that can provide some linux support here, and you're certainly welcome over at the DC Zone as well. I guess the LINUX nerds are as forward as the DOS nerds were in 1990. Newbies might learn something in the process of contributing whilst learnin' an O/S besides Billiy's WinDOW Z lol Are You REALLY Computing?![]() ![]() |
