I would not shift any of my CPUs to HCC as I now have over 32 years of HCC contribution and I am trying to get all active projects to over 30 years contributioin. I do have one 7970s running 10 GPUs and one 7970s running 8 GPUs and one 7770 running 6 GPUs dedicated to HCC and these are generating a significant amount of points. I addition I have 6 GTX 480s, 1 GTX 470, 1 GTX 460, 3 GTX 295s, and 1 GTX 260 all doing HCC GPU work. although only one process each since I have never been able to get multiple GPU threads on my NVIDIA cards. All my Linix CPUs are set to not accept any HCC work, since they cannot do GPU work, and I would rather donate all of my CPU work to other projects, although all of my capable GPUs are committed to WCG HCC.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

If the challenge is cpu only, pass on it. My 7950 is crunching 12 and my 7870 is crunching 10. Don't want to mess with the loss in points by switching.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Finally did it...over 3M Points - 3,112,859 WCG ppd for today :)

1,893626 of those points were 2 - 7970s and 1 7770 dedicated to GPU processing.

GPU processing is great! Too bad HCC is projected for only 68 more days. Should be enough to move me up to 35 in my overall WCG ranking

The challenge is all HCC points -- both GPU and CPU count. My thought was that it might be fun for Minnesota Crunchers to enter, without anyone changing how they're already crunching. Some of you are getting such huge numbers of GPU points for HCC that my guess is that the team would be near the top without anybody doing anything special.

The team called My Online Team runs challenges for all the WCG sciences every month, so they're not a big deal like the SETI birthday challenge. It's likely that there will continue to be HCC GPU WUs through Dec (no guarantee obviously), so that would be a good month to participate.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I'm fine with joining any challenges...

Won't be doing any more upgrades though due to the projected length of the project..

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We have a little snow here but we will have a big thaw over the weekend (50F or 10C) so I am thinking most of the snow will be history by Monday. Then it is supposed to get cold again. Just heard on the radio for St. Paul and Minneapolis the chances for snow cover on Christmas is 72%. For the St. Cloud area it is 74%. For International Falls and Ely by the Canadian border it is 100%. In 120 years of record keeping those two places have always had snow cover by Christmas.
I am guessing the weather records in Helsinki go back much much further than ours.
Cheers
