Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Congrats on landing another job. Hopefully you didn't loose any income with the new position.

Well, on economic matter I did...

On phenomenology point of view, I did gain some beauty that it is hard to put price on...

Looks expensive. Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like a wrought iron railing with wood bannister( almost looks like cherry, but it could just be the finish). A parquet style wood floor, very snazzy. Stone treads on the stairway, lower ones look like marble, upper ones look to be granite. And no mess from any kids. WOW !!!

Pretty nice smile

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Some more pic...

Building is pre -electricity time, so there is some upgrades made during years.

Here is cover of LAN -cable channel.
Grains of tree continue with their original direction, almost like seem would be just painting on floor.
Brass collar is quite unique, I can put one paper between edges but there is no room for two.
Cover is one inch thick, so those does not made any noise or bend when walking top of them. Those are solid as rock.

So nice building blushing

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Well folks, I did the ultimate mistake and broke my own rule, (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). I did an update on my ubuntu box. CRASH! Should have known better. Might be a few days before I am back up. Got the latest version but bionic is giving me problems. I'll try again tomorrow after work. Also, had to reduce my Mac pro in the bedroom to 4 cores. Getting to warm. Will let you know when the ubuntu box is back running. It will download but then errors them out right away. Weird.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Got the ubuntu box up and running. What a PITA but worth it. Seems the new version of ubuntu runs a little cooler on my 8 core machine.

10.04 Lucid lynx. Was getting frustrated trying to get bionic going but after 3 days I finally got it running. My fans don't spin up as high as the previous version did.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Oh, what a glorious day after a miserable, dreary, soggy week. (Even though we did need the rain.) Got about 1.5 inches(3.75cm) here. The frost earlier in the week nipped off the tops of the potatoes, but they were just getting started anyway. Fishing opener tomorrow. Should be nice day for it all over the state.

Got my computer upgraded at work yesterday. Our IS dept. did a good job of trying to duplicate all my settings but they missed a few. Spent a good portion of the day restoring missing applications, drive mappings, icons and other miscellaneous settings, but think I got most of it back to almost normal. smile Out with the P4 and in with the Core2 duo. May the P4 give someone else as good of service as it gave me.

Just got done reading Dataman's account of the owl house escapade in the MOT thread. It's hilarious. I sure it did not seem so at the time, but he does tell it with a sense of humor.

Cheers

Awww shucks Sgt.Joe, you almost made me blush. biggrin Thanks for the kind words. You know how it is when you "think" you have a project scoped out and every possible thing goes wrong. But that owl box is 17' in the air now and could be used as shelter in a tornado. laughing As I said in the thread, for what I went through and the bucks I spent, I could have bought a Barn Owl, put her up in a hotel and let her order rats and mice from room service. laughing biggrin laughing

Cheers MC ... crunch on. coffee
