Hope this isn't the same problem like HCC. Extremely long wu's to find out my wingman was a third of the time.
----------------------------------------Getting peaved about my ubuntu box. Only 7 cores run 100% with the 8th one around 25%. Activity monitor shows nano sleep on random processes of wcg. Might end up buying (cough cough) win7.

Choose "CPU Frequency and Scaling Monitor". Now set the frequency to the max. Go to preferences and select the next core, close prefs and set that to max. Keep doing this until all your cores are set to max. Then look at your Activity monitor and see what is says. Let me know if this fixes it. Tnks. Done. Still getting the nano sleep on random processes of wcg. This fix did raise it to around 80% for the one core that nano sleeps. Is this a heat issue doing this? One thing am going to do is change the mobo to 800 mhz from 677 mhz. I started with 2 dual core 2ghz xeons from an older mac pro then put harpertowns in it. Not sure how much more crunching power this will produce but should be some.

In your monitor, what does the "nice" setting say? They should all read 19.

Is there a temp monitor for ubuntu? Starting to wonder if my temps are to high. I have this cased in a thermaltake Xaser VI so have plenty of ventilation. Plus I have a kingston hyper x fan on the ram modules. A temp monitor would be great to see whats going on.

I did a search after I asked and found Im-sensors. I tried to add it but it wasn't on the list to add to the panel. Would I have to do the sudo command first to get it to show in the panel to add?

I think you also need to add gkrellm sudo apt-get install gkrellm When it's done it should be in the Applications-->System Tools-->GkrellM System Monitor Then change the prefs to suite your needs. |
