Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Storm totals in inches.
If we did not get rain in the middle of the storm we would have had 18+ inches of snow in most areas. The NWS said there was no storm like this in any computer model to compare to. Very interesting storm indeed, it was awesome!

The storm I remember that would be most comparable would be the one in January 1975, the so called storm of the century. If I remember correctly it dropped more snow, covered just as wide an area if not bigger, the wind blew harder and it got much colder after the storm passed. The Halloween blizzard of 1991 dropped a pile of wet gloppy snow, at least a foot here. St. Cloud and Stearns County certainly remember the great St.Patrick's Day Blizzard of 1965. My wife was on the farm yet then. They were snowed in for almost a week, had to dump milk and eventually needed front end loaders to clear out their 1/4 mile driveway. I am not old enough to remember the Armistice Day Blizzard of 1940, but that one left quite a few dead as the day started out so warm and then the temperature plummeted and the snow came. I would think one of these events would be comparable or would be able to be computer simulated for comparison.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Well, we are still cleaning up in the Plymouth area after plowing all this snow. Hopefully we will be done before new years day. The 12 hour days are beginning to wear us down. Should have a good overtime banked. Am ready for a couple days off. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

I don't suppose you know which plow driver did this:

Nearly rear ended one of my friends due to icy roads and going too fast... confused

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Don't know what area it happened at so don't know. The last 2 years brought in allot of new folks and the last class had folks that had no experience. Are trucks are overloaded by weight with all the plow gear and salt (authorized by the state for snow emergencies) so it keeps us on our toes.

Get some rest.

Please drive carefully. Don't know about the Cities, but there are a number of intersections here which are very slick glare ice.

Cheers
