Certificate of participation

I would like to have available a printable CERTIFICATE to post near my desk or office to show others how well my computer or team is doing. I suggest 2 types 1) A Certificate of Participation for New members, 2) A certificate that I could print out at any time with my personal or team scores. I feel that this would encourage more people to become members.

Re: Certificate of participation

Hi Densmith,

welcome to your first long overdue visit to our WCG forum. U must be a mindreader.....National Geographic does a membership certificate, so why not WCG.

For a quick fix start, (It's not a great layout), but there are team and member comparison stat pages u could easily print.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewCompareTeams.do

&

Statistics By Members

Fill in up to eight teams or member's u like to compare and print the page off. Bookmark them after apply for easy revisit.

ciao

oops, stumbled on old memories...something like this....(the owner of the below ran off to go skim the bloody edge of technology and crunch with his graphical processing unit - beta):

Re: Certificate of participation

densmith, this has been on the todo list for well over a year.

Regrettably, it's not the highest priority, but the last I heard it was promised as part of the upcoming statistics overhaul.

Re: Certificate of participation

Perhaps you could hold a competition to design the certificate, when you have got the code to produce it ready.

biggrin

Certificates would be a conversation starter/icebreaker.
You're always going on about how you want to increase membership........here's your chance to prove it.

Re: Certificate of participation

Certificates is one of the top two enhancements along with the logo download. We already have a certificate design in place and are just looking to to put it on the development schedule. We'll put some priority on it.

BTW, When comparing World Community Grid to Seti@Home or Folding@Home, don't forget the big difference between the grid..... Other grids only run one research project while we run multiple projects for a variety of research organizations. This keeps the small team we have very busy. We currently have 3 active projects, are close to starting two more, and have 6 in our queue for next year.

We will do our best to provide some of the nice-to-have features that members have been asking for.

CPDN has been running several projects since 2003:
Classic model on Windows
THC experiement on Windows
BOINC - same climate model as on classic.
BOINC Sulphur
BOINC SpinUp 200 years
BOINC Coupled Model 160 years model; shorter in preparation; actually two project on CPND Main and BBC.
BOINC Seasonal Attribution Project.

Those are 7 project with most of them still running and operational.
Results from earlier projects usually serves as input files and for estimation of parameters for subsequent projects. Each project has different application and believe it - climate models are way more complex than other 'grid' application.

Yes, WCG runs multiple projects at once but is far from unique in this aspect as is put in the above post.

Anyway, good luck with upcoming projects.
It is not easy to run multiple projects, analyze results finished ones and prepare new onces in queue.
