I have access to several public computers and would like to run the client on them, but I don't want people messing with the program. Is there a way to run the clients in "hidden" mode?

If you use the properties to always hide the icon, people can still see it by expanding the system tray to display the hidden icons, just click on the << down there. If you really want it to not be there at all, then you need to do something different.
One word of caution to everybody, I remember reading a news story some months ago about a government employee who had the seti@home agent loaded on a bunch of computers at work, and since he was not authorized to do so, he got fired when he got caught. So, although it's a good cause and we all want lots of points, be sure that if you load the WCG agent on a computer, you will not get in trouble if the wrong person finds out. |

joatmon makes a very good point. Unless you are running this program on your personally-owned computer, you MUST have official permission. He is referring to an incident in Ohio around the beginning of October that is reported here:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10/11/seti_man_sacked/ Please use good sense and avoid getting fired the way this man was. Lawrence |
