Hi all,
Is the Max Storage number related to the hard disk where the app is installed ? OR To all hard disks in my system ? This is unclear and not well documented. Thank you for any comments. Hiddenson |

There is a post somewhere that I read that says that it relates to the partition that the Proteome Folding Program has been installed in.
----------------------------------------This is Drive (C) by default, so to maximise the full potential of the points system you would need to set the available space to 10 GIG if you have the room. This can be acomplished by referring to the profile you set when you joined and adjusting it to the maximum space that you are prepared to make available to the program. Generally, the bigger the space that you allocate, the higher your points will be I hope this helps Regards <GRAHAM> [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 9, 2004 11:01:24 PM] |

In the proteome folding project, all of the work units are supposed to be the same size, so for now the value you set as max disk usage has only two effects:
1. If you sest the value too small, say 10 MB, then you will not download any new workunits. 2. You will get more points for a workunit if your disk usage value is larger than you would for the same workunit at a lower disk usage setting. So, assuming that you have it set large enough to download new work units, you might as well set it to the max value of 10 GB. The current project won't use that much, but at least you'll get more points. perhaps a future project will have different size workunits where the disk usage setting will matter more. The machines I have the agent installed on have more than 10 GB free, so I don't know if the agent is smart enough to read your setting and compare it to actual disk free space, or if it just uses the value from your profile. |

What they said.
The software is not smart enough to allow you to point to any drive other than the main drive where the software is installed. As joatmon pointed out, setting a high amount of disk space gets you more points per work unit and rates your computer higher. What I did was create a device profile called "more HDD" and then assign that profile to each device. All my machines have way more than 10gb available, so the default 1gb setting was only costing me points. The current project should never use anywhere near that amount anyway. Go the Members Area, then Device Manager, then under Device Profiles you should see the option to create a new profile and then assign all machines to that profile. |
