That's one impressive week of number crunching

In the last 7 days we crunched through 773,457 Work Units by contributing almost 9 centuries of run time (898 years 196 days 3 hours 19 mins and 37 seconds to be precise shock)

that 46,852 PC days every day this week which means in every 1.84 seconds of last week we've added one whole day to the crunch tme of the World Community Grid.

That's silly and awesome

Just wondering when we might break a millennium a week?
It's bound to be soon.

Dave

Oh, and if u need production to meet targets..... call on something which is referred to in Italian as 'Stacanovismo', which finds it's origin in Russian:
When it was realized near the end of the month that, in spite of all efforts, the quotas were not going to be met, the famous Stakanovite system was put into effect. For the Russians, Stakanov meant special work production. Stakanov overruled every holiday. Officers, soldiers, clerks, craftsmen, engineers, every man and woman made a special gift to their father Stalin by crawling around for twelve hours in the earth to bring up coal.
ciao

Re: That's one impressive week of number crunching

And once again, when will we see more of this translated in to tangible benefits, so we can see the fruits of our (pc's) labour? Peer reviewed papers, money saved on research, promising compounds, whatever.

Re: That's one impressive week of number crunching

Hi Ian

See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=8483

The scientific community are a cautious lot. It will have to be peer reviewed and all sorts of dotting i's and crossing t's. Don't worry rest assured that postive contructive science will be the result of our efforts and new knowledge of the processes of Cancer and HIV and other diseases will be made known, enabling new treatments to be created.

Every journey starts with that first step.

Re: That's one impressive week of number crunching

In a few weeks we'll be bringing in at least 8 new woodcrest systems as 24/7 crunchers.
I'm curious to see what these puppies can do. biggrin
