I am the founder and captain of the HomeBrewers team, and although I intend to remain active here and as a member of our team, I would like for a more deserving member -- "Fred B" -- to be able to take over as Captain. I selected 'Edit this team' on our WCG team home page, but that doesn't provide a way to change captains. I assume that if I just quit the team, that Fred B will be able to somehow assume command, but I figure that when I rejoin that I'll probably get a brand new "join" date, as of the date of rejoining (if I'm making any sense). IF POSSIBLE, I'd like to retain my original join date, for sentimental reasons. Can that be done? Is there a more appropriate forum for my question?
Thanks. Bill Velek |

Hi Bill
----------------------------------------first off, Fred B better be quick as anyone can assume captaincy of your team right from when you resign ;>) The sentimental journey..... honestly don't now if a team joining date exists...just know the points go to a team from that moment onwards. Take the JDI approach and if it does not work out do a 'contact us' mail, to change the date back to your original creation date. ciao

Our founding team captain went MIA over a year ago, so a few of us who actually read the forums discussed what to do. CKizer used the "Contact Us" link to convey our plight. WCG then tried to contact the team captain via his email account he had registered. After not hearing from him, WCG made the change to have another team member take over as captain.

This is no MIA case if you read the forum ;>)

Thanks, Sekerob. I've asked Fred B to contact me so that we can coordinate the change. If it turns out that I become a "new" member, I will try to get that changed via the admins.
Cheers. Bill Velek |

Bill, I believe you'll be fine. When you first join a team, that gets set as your "joined" date. If you quit the team, that gets recorded as a separate "retired" date. When you rejoin a team, the retired date appears to get cleared and you have just the original join date.
----------------------------------------This will all be very quick for you as, once coordinated, you will quit the team, tell Fred, he'll take over as captain, then you'll re-join the team "un-retiring" probably in less than a minute all told :-) |

Thanks, keithhenry. I'm still waiting for Fred B to contact me, and then we'll give it a try.

I'm pleased to announce that Fred B is now the new HomeBrewers team captain, and everything worked out as suggested.
Thanks for everyone's input. Bill Velek |
