Joost, your contribution has been tremendous. I wish you luck in your future. Know that you will always be welcome back here.

I must admit that I'm curious. Are you moving on to other DC projects, taking a break from DC or WCG? I fully respect your decision. Am just interested in terms of always looking for ways to improve things here smile If you prefer, you can drop me an email at my link below.

Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 17 smile smile

Folks, we really need to recruit new members urgently. We've had a number of retirements recently, including our top cruncher who was good for roughly 500,000 points a month alone. With WCG's second anniversary, we appear to be seeing a loss of crunchers overall.
Folks change jobs, retire, lose interest in DC, move on to other projects, and many other reasons. Retaining members and recruiting new ones are the two biggest problems for virtually all of the DC projects. Let's get creative and see what we can do. There's a lot of folks we are and have been crunching for that deserve our efforts.

Maybe one of the reasons why so many people leave WCG is the boring forum.
Too many futile interventions from “nelsoc”. skull
I understand guys like dagorath being shutdown.
But when your post gets edited for a word like “hell”, it’s gets annoying to say the least.

Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 17 smile smile

Well, I doubt the forums, boring or otherwise, have much of any real impact on folks leaving or staying with WCG. There's only about 100-150 folks reasonably regularly active in the forums. That's an extremely small minority of the total WCG population. All DC projects have problems with member retention and recruitment. I think a lot of folks just get tired after crunching for two years. I haven't tried running any numbers/analysis on the specifics but I would not at all be surprised to see that the "older" members who joined WCG early on are the large part of who we're losing these days. I guess you could see this as a real test of just how committed folks are. Anyone can use a break from anything after a long enough time. That's understandable. The challenge before us is to ensure they return after their "sabbatical" and that we recruit new members. If we do nothing, we're just going to wither away slowly but surely.

Oh, and as for "four-letter words", like it or not, the rules have not allowed those all along. We have a choice of either working to get the rule changed or living with it. Some folks don't like speed limits too and can argue that there's no real harm from ignoring them. Naturally, that presumes that there's no consequences but when the speeder wrecks killing/injuring themself or others, there are consequences. Okay, cussing doesn't kill people but it's simply a matter of respecting the rules that exist (and those that agree with them) or working to change them (much like the changes made to the speed limits).
