Re: 4 Cores - cop for this

Why do you assume it will claim more?

If the benchmark works correctly, they will all claim the exact same amount. Say one computer is twice as fast as another. It will have double the benchmark, and will complete the unit in half the time. benchmark x time = claimed points, and should be identical for both.

Now, obviously small differences in the way the benchmark works and so on mean that the actual claimed points will vary slightly, but the fastest computer is not always the one to claim the most points.

A calibrated client would (if set up correctly) claim a more consistent, accurate benchmark.

Thank you for the information.
I'm using the stock 5.4.11 boinc manager and what I see in relation to my own systems is that I am generally claiming much more than I am receiving so I assumed that this would carry over to a Kentsfield only more so.
I do admit that there is still much for me to learn on the scoring system in WCG and appreciate your input.

Re: 4 Cores - cop for this

Sorry I walked into that one d oh

Did somebody mention points whistling

I think we've done that one already, as we speak the IBM Crew are working on a solution.

Let's crunch up some work units and find some potential cures and treatments. That's what we are really here for peace

Re: 4 Cores - cop for this

I'm buying one of these as a Christmas present for myself. Naturally, all 4 cores will crunch for WCG. That will bring my household total to 8 cores and 25,000 points/day! biggrin Now I just need to run an extension cord from the neighbors house so I can afford the electricity...lol! laughing
