That would be a nice machine to add to WCG!

They should forget all of this 3Dmark and Doom benchmark stuff
----------------------------------------How many points does it get in BOINC per day that's what we need to know + the odd WU might get crunched during the Benchmarking Result ![]() |

I'm sort of holding off on Conroe just because of this. Surely wouldn't mind having a 4 core CPU and 4GB of RAM on Server 2003 for a nice crunching rig.

They have about the same output as 2 conroes at the same speed, so lets say that is ~10000-15000 points per day... Tom's late on that one, we've been having them for almost a month now... It would never get the points it claimed. Just as an example, in SOB(pure cpu power) my DX3600 scores app 8 million a day, my buddies Kentsfield at 3400mhz scores 18+ million.. It is a monster. The 3400mhz speed is a 24/7 on air speed. I've seen them taken beyond 5000mhz on phase. ![]() |

Of course it would get the points it claimed. It would simply claim lots more work units.
Any work unit should be worth the same amount of points no matter what computer crunches it or how long it takes. |

Then I admit to being a bit confused: Since you get the middle of the 3 machines that work the WU and the kentsfield would be at the top of those 3, how could it get what it claimed? ![]() |

Why do you assume it will claim more?
If the benchmark works correctly, they will all claim the exact same amount. Say one computer is twice as fast as another. It will have double the benchmark, and will complete the unit in half the time. benchmark x time = claimed points, and should be identical for both. Now, obviously small differences in the way the benchmark works and so on mean that the actual claimed points will vary slightly, but the fastest computer is not always the one to claim the most points. A calibrated client would (if set up correctly) claim a more consistent, accurate benchmark. |
