Problem with options in a windows 2003 server

Hello,

I have BOINC running in 2 servers:

- microsoft small business server 2003 premium (SBS)
- windows 2003 server r2 (running as a terminal services server) (W2003R2)

both server have got SAME WCG-BOINC profile; I have selected NO in "Do work while computer is in use?" option and in option "Do work only between the hours of" I have selected only off-business hours

but when, during that off-business hours, BOINC is running, I connect using Terminal Services to both servers, only the SBS server stops running BOINC; the W2003R2 server continues executing BOINC; is like it does not notice about my login.

When I connect to the servers I want BOINC to suspend execution.

Any idea?

Regards,

Julio

Re: Problem with options in a windows 2003 server

I'm not sure, but if u run multiple devices off the same profile, u need to force all to copy the project pref's over......as in 'project update' command on each machine. Scan the log of the one u think that has not changed and see if it shows a pref replication somewhere after u changed it on the WCG BOINC website profile.

Also in BOINC there is a menu which translated from Italian says something like work always, work according to prefs, work interrupted....u need to take the work per prefs option.

ciao

hmmm is BOINCmgr.exe properly talking to BOINC.exe and the science?.....in circumstances it can loose contact (RPC) and science continuing, when BOINCmgr.exe seems dead (temporary/permanent). Honestly i dont know if BOINCmgr.exe or BOINC.exe is the one executing the profile instructions...the former looks more logical. Same BOINC CC on both servers?

Julio,

Do you have a file global_prefs_override.xml in the BOINC directory? If you use that file then use :
<run_if_user_active>0</run_if_user_active>
0 = false
1 = true

Information on global_prefs_override.xml is at hhtp://boinc.berkeley.edu/prefs_override.php.

Both servers have BOINC 5.2.13 installed; I noticed that 5.4.11 was ready to doenload so I upgraded BOINC in SBS server (the one that has got the issue).

The result is that after BOINC upgrade issue still persits.

I dont understand what you mean with boincmgr or boinc.exe, please tell me more information on what must I look for.

Regards.

Hello,

first of all let me tell you that if I move mouse or I type in keyboard IN CONSOLE, BOINC stops running because user is active.

Problem is only with terminal server users and only in W2003R2 server (in SBS2003 sever when a user login trhough Terminal Server BOINC stops running). W2003R2 server is configured as a Terminal Server aApplication mode.

In W2003R2 sever, file global_prefs_override.xml is this one:

<global_preferences>

<source_scheduler>https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/w...</source_scheduler>
