Re: shock shock Too many work units?! shock shock

Sorry for assuming such a frequent abbreviation is common knowledge Help Defeat Cancer. Here's a link to the Wiki with all the known abbreviations on the WCG website: Glossary

Re: shock shock Too many work units?! shock shock

Hi Mike,

I'm curious about the exact log entries as before i misread that your BOINC was requesting 2 million seconds work, rather it being send 2 million. Here's the log excerpt after resetting all 3 projects on my machine and the reward.....had to cancel several, but what was frustrating is that it went in panic mode also known as EDF ** (Earliest Deadline First) parking the other projects and now sitting with a massive LTD ** (Long Term Debt)on WCG...more panic as it got work galore.....
2006-08-25 09:16:48 [World Community Grid] Resetting project
2006-08-25 09:17:16 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
2006-08-25 09:17:16 [World Community Grid] Requesting 3760957 seconds of new work
2006-08-25 09:17:21 [World Community Grid] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507]
2006-08-25 09:17:21 [World Community Grid] Message from server: Not sending work - last request too recent: 110 sec
2006-08-25 09:17:23 [World Community Grid] Started download of file stat_wcg_01.png
2006-08-25 09:17:25 [World Community Grid] Finished download of file stat_wcg_01.png
2006-08-25 09:17:25 [World Community Grid] Throughput 4132 bytes/sec
2006-08-25 09:27:22 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work
2006-08-25 09:27:22 [World Community Grid] Requesting 3764177 seconds of new work
2006-08-25 09:27:27 [World Community Grid] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507]

More annoyance was that 1 of the projects cut their deadline by 33%, no notice, which upset more of the round-robin theory.....more BOINC panic as it did not match the previously set contact frequency.

** You wont those in the WcgWiki yet... that comes from the Unofficial BOINC Wiki wink

Re: shock shock Too many work units?! shock shock

Sorry, I didn't keep it. I do remember that it showed that as soon as the first 5,000 odd seconds had been downloaded it just requested another 5,000 odd seconds. This was repeated until the server returned the message that daily quota had been met. Then it would do the same thing the next day.

It was just the total work that added up to 2,000,000+ seconds.

Mike
