cpu percentage

The program seems to use about 50% of the available cpu time - if I'm leaving my pc on i'd prefer to allow it say 95%. Anyone agree?

Re: cpu percentage

It should use 100% unless you have multiple processors. I have a 2 processor system, and it will say 50% because it doesn't take advantage of dual processors. Future projects might, however, but not this protein folding one.

cool Re: cpu percentage

This sounds as though you have an Intel Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading enabled. The Task Manager in Windows reports 50% utilization if only one thread is running rather than two, but the real situation is that your CPU is running almost as fast with 1 thread as it wuld with 2.
