Hi people, thanks for your answers.
I use last windows boinc version 5.4.11 found on their site since I installed it on the new machine and try to use WCG. I still have the same error. 21/08/06 12:05:36||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 21/08/06 12:05:37||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. If you tell me how to do it, I'm ready to "test a few things" of some beta of boinc. Thx |

Do you know how to use Ethereal? An HTTP dump will give the best picture of what is going on, but isn't trivial to use.

Ok from that page I took 5.5.13 last beta, but same problem.
I also tried older version 5.2.13 but after install problem and reinstall, it can't even run on my PC (can't find localhost), even after rerereinstall. So I'm back with current stable 5.4.11. Stable but not good enough with the proxy to get WCG units... |

Vaguely remember the 5.5.xx alpha/beta had a recommendation on them not to use, if depending on proxy (issue).....not sure it is fixed in latest builds....don't use proxy.....i read that the last August WIN patches of MSFT could break HTTPS traffic......there's a patch for the patch (on request!)...of course could be entirely unrelated, but its straws time again.
----------------------------------------The beauty of BOINC and it being used by many DC projects is, that a little 'clusty' search will often provide a link to a discussion on the same like: Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site There are 2 sites: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org and https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/. Very irritating if u have logged on to the forum and being directed to the secure site, than having pop-ups from IE if it starts pulling linked data from unsecured sites....it's not my bank FGS (for goodness sake).......thing a forced redirect after sign-in should take place to be send to the www for forum activity.

As coincidence always follows me on foot.......just happened in my log......still not getting new work either....WCG workbuffer down to 2 units....English dinner time SIMAP will gets its turn.
