Anyone seen any of the energy efficient AM2 processors out and about?

There was promise of a 35W TDP 3800+ dual core AM2 processor at launch

Has anyone seen any of these devices for sale?

Me thinks vapourware

Hoping I'm proven wrong

I've been looking for one too but none of the Canuck retailers seem to have them. A small local retailer who caters to system builders and has a reputation for having the very latest doesn't have them. Usually they would have an item like this listed on their website as a Special Order item until they can get a large order in but they have nothing on their website. Very strange and it's starting to look like vapors.

Re: Anyone seen any of the energy efficient AM2 processors out and about?

I seem to recall that the 35-watt version is supposed to come out sometime after the 65/68-watt version.

Added: Google only turns up German test reports - so I assume that there are just a few engineering samples leaking out of the fab in Dresden.

At 370 Euros, it sounds a bit pricey to me. Wait until competition from Intel forces the price down.

Ahhh. I mistakenly assumed they were supposed to be shipping by now. I really must find a better way of filing and recalling announcements and reports as the aging gray matter 'tween my ears can't keep track of it all like it used to.

I've been over to the AMD Users forum (To pull their legs that they were about to be overtaken by the Christians wink ) and they have promised me they will be available in October a fact that seems to be born out by the link above.

Other sites like Apple Insider give the news little credence.

The AMD 4 by 4 is supposedly postponed due lack of CPU's.... the boards it's meant for look hmmm ..... made 4 4 eyed folk.... 20 USB ports & 1 PCI express:
