results yesterday 92,306
----------------------------------------average run time each result 9.18 hours = .3825 days total 'days' yesterday = 92,306 x .3835 = 35,307 = active cpus yesterday 35,307 active computers, is this correct? or maybe this assumes all machines are running 24 hours/day. if 1/2 of all machines are running 24 hours/day and 1/2 only run 4 hours per day, then there are... someone else finish this i am also curious how many of these machines have 1 Gb RAM or more. the 750 Mb RAM requriement for cancer is an unusual number, so i assume machines will have either 512 or less Mb, or 1 Gb or more. Hi halfcard
----------------------------------------All we can say for sure is that the equivalent of 42,189 PC's were on for the full 24 hours yesterday, assuming that knreed's years are 365 days long and don't take into account leap years. (All those 29th Feb's we are missing) The 42,190th PC was only left on for 15 hours 25 mins and 13 seconds yesterday. This is down from the 50,000+ we were recording but all those folks are on their hols and the schools, colleges and uni's are still enjoying the sun in the northern hemisphere. Roll on those scores in late October Dave p.s. the average pc on the grid is around the 2.8Ghz (Athlon 2800+) mark so we are still kicking out a raw processing power around the 125TFlops mark ![]() ![]() |

Hi halfcard,
I just look at http://vspx27.stanford.edu/DCcomparison.html and let a computer do the arithmetic. I almost never use my calculator now. Lawrence |

ok i give up on all your math skills!
j/k here is (maybe) the solution to the problem above: if 1/2 of all machines are running 24 hours/day, and the other 1/2 are running 4 hours/day, then the total number of active computers yesterday was: 123,585 seems high but it's possible ![]() |
