Thanks for your commentary,
I suppose the next level of testing will occur after they find a way to produce the vaccine in large volumes. I imagine they would innoculate larger populations as well as smaller populations that are at high risk of infection. They'll watch for side effects and track infection rates to see how effective the vaccine is. I see. there's a long way... --- BTW, I have another question around HPF2. Since I hesitate to post a new thread, I ask it here on this thread. "Will HPF participate in CASP 8/9/...?" By participating in any competitions like CASP, I think this grid would gain more members. For example, Rosetta@home got inactive participants back to itself, asking them through e-mail to re-attach the project to their computer. Because HPF is studying the same problem as R@H is doing ("further explore the limits of protein structure prediction by further developing Rosetta software structure prediction"), it's possible for the project to participate with CASP, isn't it? Thanks for reading, suguruhirahara |

Hello suguruhirahara,
World Community Grid's mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. Participating in CASP 8 would not be any special benefit to humanity. Baker Laboratory at the University of Washington is hard at work improving Rosetta. We just take Rosetta as they develop it and use it. Lawrence |

SARS is not considered a current threat of global proportion and some derive it to be in the same class or close to Legionella....well containable. See WHO website which shows last reported case July 2003, which is quite different from H5N1. Once the USA has its first case of latter, the fan will be hit....so far migrating birds carrying the virus have not crossed there. Once it hits the America's it will move quite quickly to north and south....really no stopping until it burns itself out, then mutates again as regular flu does every year.
----------------------------------------This from 'clustying' SARS http://www.wired.com/news/medtech/0,1286,58678,00.html looks like DC was applied...only glossed it over. ciao
