hi,
since yesterday i dont get any new work. Didn´t change anything on my laptop. i´ve got all projects selected. What can be wrong? |

Hi Paboot and sorry that your computer paused out of the blue. Before anyone can help, u need to provide some info. When reading the 'rules' of posting here refer to the clause:
----------------------------------------Please obtain as much information as possible about a problem before posting your query, as this will help to find a quicker solution Right now only guesses can be made, that your computer has for instance only 512mb RAM which is good for Fighting Aids @ Home (FAAH). The Help Defeat Cancer (HDC) requires 750mb RAM minimum. If u saw just before the pausing in the UD agent a message Receiving 37xx byte of 37xx byte, than u've found the answer. U need to refer to the System Requirements page to see if for your computer any particular project(s) are suitable. What was the last WorkUnit UD Agent worked on....HDC, FAAH, HPF2, HPF? Momentarily FAAH and HDC are the only 2available, as presently HFP2 has problems and was suspended. Please advise.

Hi,
i´ll try to get as much as information as possible. As far i can see my computer meets all requirements. 1.7 GB processor, 1 GB Ram, latest XP SP2 with all patches. Agent version is 3.0 (2844). Somewhere last week i turned up the drive space allocation to 5 GB I´ve seen all active projects working on this laptop, so i don´t see why they´re not working now. Haven´t seen any 37xx receiving messages. I´m not sure what the last one was, guess it was fight aids. Hope this gives some more information. regards, paul boot |

There's 2 levels of project selection for UD Agent. 1, the top level is My Project option in left margin of the 'My Grid' page. 2 is the Device Profiles Level which can be found under the Device Manager also in left margin. When doing the 'My Projects', it overwrites all the Device Level options.
----------------------------------------When hitting the Device Manager, u see a list of all your devices. U need to connect the Device Name, with a Device Profile, if u have more than just Default. Have u exited and restarted UD Agent....guess so......then there is the Firewall like ZoneAlarm that cause problems in communication......see if disabling does the trick. A new science load like HDC, will require additional permission settings, but the Firewalls should warn u for that. Also temporarily disable your antivir as that also can do strange things. let us know.

Hi,
everything seemed to be in order (default profile etc). I changed my connection type in the device profile a few times and disabled and enabled my port settings in the client. After this i got my connection back! thanks for helping out. kind regards, paul |

The WCG server was unavailable for a period this weekend (see Member News). It may be this that caused the issue you saw, and it resolved itself automatically when the agent could get a connection again.
Normally UD should reconnect almost as soon as the server is available again, but since you have resolved your problem it would be a bit pointless to look into it further. |
