I no longer wish to participate in a project because I lose too much time in the project when I shut my PC down and lose the current work (it goes back to zero). Yet I cannot delete the current work unit, it always goes back to zero and starts over. How can I delete the current work unit??? I've already removed the project from my grid account on the web site but my guess is that it only communicates when the unit completes which is never going to happen.
Thank you. |

I found the answer, at least one that works. While the grid agent is running, I ran Task Manager to identify the ud_xxxx process and then closed down the grid agent and renamed the exe and dll in the installation directory. I then started it back up. The grid agent complained a bit, I clicked OK to the popup window, and it then proceeded with one of the other projects in my WCG profile.

hmmm that's a way to do it, but the proper way to force the cancellation of FAAH and get another projects WU, rightclick start bar and select TaskManager. Select the Process Tab. Then, select process, highlighted A, Click the button, right hand bottom, B. and confirm cancellation. This will send the cancelled file back and retrieve a new one (HDC or HPF2)
----------------------------------------Note: HDC (Help Defeat Cancer), is the only other active alternate project at WorldCommunityGrid and needs real 750mb RAM to be able to start. It uses on average 285mb Pagefile, 285mb RAM, but goes as low as 85mb in RAM, and peaks sometimes over 500mb (just minutes). HPF2 requires 512mb RAM to start, but is currently suspended for debugging.
