On the outside chance.....maybe an event of dual core.....but that should/could report 50%....stumped, but to be sure the system variable needs to be set in the Systems Variable section, not the User variable section. You have to boot to let it take effect....maybe ![]() PS i run the enigmatic HT version of a P4! It doesn't even report 60% it keeps going between 47 and 50 (sorry I said 60 earlier, I was looking at the total CPU usage in the Performance tab, rather than at the single WCGrid_AutoDock.exe CPU usage in the Processes tab). So yeah, it doesn't go over 50 at all. Both northwood pc's have wcgrid_max_cpu in the system variables section and both have been rebooted.. still.. nothing ![]() I guess it's kind of like Prime95 if you're familiar with it. If you use that on an HT processor, you have to run two instances to get it to 100%. Each Prime95 instance will only use 50%. |

Hello Youssef Abdelaal,
On a Hyperthreading Pentium 4, 50% is 100%. Remember, hyperthreading allows a CPU to run 2 threads, so if the CPU is 100% utilized, Task Manager divides that by 2 and says that it is 50% utilized. That is just the way that Task Manager reports on a hyperthreading CPU. So you ARE running 100%. Lawrence |

Hello Youssef Abdelaal , There are 2 places where the throttle variable is set. According to Rick Alther ( http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=7712#62035 ) the registry value has priority over the environment value. ' WCGridMaxCPU.exe -t 100' should set both values to 100%. Lawrence I just tried that, but both values had already been set to 100, the registry one was set manually. It still doesn't use more than 50% total (100% of any one of the "two" CPUs it thinks there are). This thing needs to start supporting dual core oh well..Thanks |

Last, an off chance. I dont know if the throttle tool allows for the Registry variables to be deleted....i went in and performed the dangerous manual act, after it did not do what i expected, but strictly speaking 50% is 100% of one virtual core...Taskmanager does not know i suppose.
----------------------------------------The Throttle tool actually does read the environment variable btw. It offers to assume that value when u use it. Of course, there is BOINC that uses both cores, but not on an HT....i've not been able to coax it to do that, so run UD+BOINC side by side to get the max. ciao

If you want to utilize 100% of CPU on the Dual cored or HT machine, use BOINC to run the grid. Boenic can assign 1 task for each CPU so if you have 2 CPU, BOINC runs 2 task at a time and causes the CPU utilizations to go up to 100%. It does now show the graphic though, work well.
