![]() Congratulations, Maddog39! Half a million! Observant readers will spot that UFies can put their real name, their UF nickname or their WCG member name on their certificates. Thank you! |

Hey Didactylos,
I'm a longtime Grid.org user (Since 2002). For personal reasons, my focus has always been cancer. Found WCG from the userfriendly pages. I wanted to give you the opportunity to sell me on the WCG, since it's cancer project has just ended. Mike |

WCG have other cancer projects in the pipeline. I can't say exactly when they will launch, but they are planned for this year. It's easy to get a cancer project accepted by WCG - it's clearly humanitarian, and lots of people are interested in crunching cancer.
Meanwhile, we have some basic science projects that will benefit cancer research, among others. These are the Human Proteome Folding 2 project, and the Genome Comparison project. More information about how proteins work and relate to each other is directly useful to many scientists. So, I hope you join. Remember, use the BOINC agent, or uninstall grid.org completely. The United Devices grid.org agent is incompatible with the United Devices WCG agent. |

Thanks.
Just one more question. Any difference between the BOINC agent, and the UD one? |

BOINC is better! It's got more advanced configuration options, it exploits dual core CPUs properly.... I could go on.
Bottom line is BOINC is actively maintained, while the UD agent used by WCG hasn't seen a bug fix in years. |
