Ok it's been a couple of weeks now since the launch of the project the dust is beginning to settle and instead of running around like headless chickens we need to get to a business as usual position with around 800 new users pitching in on this effort every day.
----------------------------------------This forum is in need of a tidy up we need some sub sections where like minded individuals can share their thoughts online. Just having new members, member-to-member support, sugestions feedback this isn't enough Sorry to keep going on about Grid.org but over at Grid.org they have in addition to our existing set of categories other groupings such as Members Lounge where you would post informal chat. Scores and Rewards where you can announce the various successes of your team or as an individual Teams Recruiting - this would separate the technical queries from the endless welcoming armed smilies dragging you in to team timbuktoo A main projects board where you could find out about the task sponsors of our crunching Last and by no means least a forum for posting Medical Stories successes and unfortunately failures of various drug trials and somewhere where the latest discoveries and research could be posted. Any further suggestions welcome. Dave ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by David Autumns at Dec 2, 2004 7:58:01 PM] |

Not sure why the "Start Here: Community-maintained FAQ's" forum is read only. How can it be community maintained when nobody in the community can post there? Some things are becoming frequently asked questions, such as "why are my points in the agent different from the stats on the web page?"
----------------------------------------It would be useful for some of the multipage threads if the subforum index (the page that lists the threads in a forum) had links to the individual thread pages. Very common in forums, if you are actively watching a thread you can jump right to the last page instead of loading the first page and then jumping to the end. At the bottom of the main forum page, it says there are about 7000 total members. On the Global Statistics page, it says that there are over 24000 members. Why the difference? In the "User List" there are columns for Posts and Views, but only 21 of the almost 7000 forum users have a non-zero view count. What does "Views" represent? edit - to admins, thanks for setting up the forum, it is a really good idea and has been useful [Edit 2 times, last edit by joatmon at Dec 3, 2004 3:01:24 AM] |

Why the difference? joatmon, The difference between the two is that the User List in the forums only counts the members who have visited the forums. The count on the Global Statistics page is the number of members who have returned at least one result. We removed the User List from the nav bar this morning becuase it is misleading as to the number of members. |

That's what I thought it would be.
I also see your user status shows up as "Tech" Thanks, that should help a lot. I don't know anyone by name, but seeing a response from a Tech will let us know that you guys are here with us, and maybe some of the loneliness will go away ![]() |

First off, another smilie! I got very quick (and kind) feedback on an issue I could have probably figured out myself.
I haven't been over to grid.org, was recruited personally to this grid which has an inherent interest and value to me. It would be a definite enhancement to me to see a (perhaps read only) forum by the application folks, or better yet a regular little informing and newsy item on the main grid page about the project. Keep up the good work. (Kathy's Hubby) ![]() |

Kathy and Consort,
If you will glance at this thread posted the night before yours: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=908 So I expect that plans are in progress to give you what you want. Delightedly, Lawrence |
