Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

Why would I want to help WCG destroy their reputation when they seem to be bent on doing it themselves?

UserFreiendly is a comic strip! I don't imagine they have a need to disseminate important information that helps keep a juggernaut stay on the rails. Don't know about Slashdot but saying WCG is as mediocre as the most mediocre is not a compelling argument.

Furthermore, your evaluation of who the biggest and best forums are is subjective and unsupported. My opinion is that the biggest and best DO use stickys. So I have figured and I figure your finding that my thesis lacks weight, lacks weight.

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

See, and we're having a discussion... it only takes one thread for that. Please will you remove the duplicates, they are making the place look untidy and making it difficult for people to find the information they need.

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

WCG has made it difficult to find the information people need. I have put 1 thread in each forum and no more. That 1 thread interferes no more than any other thread AND it has a noble purpose.

We ARE having a discussion in this thread. The others threads are advertising and a call to stand up and speak. I will NOT delete them and if anybody else does I will delete anything and everything to do with WCG from my computers.

If the other threads are ignored they will sink. Or they may get bumped to the top 100 times a day. Let the crunchers speak. And listen.

We are the crunchers and we want stickys!
No sticky, no crunchy!

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

Now, i saw it printed a number of times, and i'm going to print it in different words: The search engine on this forum is a categorical dog!

No Sticky, No Findy!

We just need to keep this thread alive, same as one George Dominic does on his own.

My personal feel is, and i love them Dutch expressions that get lost in translation: WCG (might be) having too much hay on its fork. Its starting to show here. Now we already got 14 crunches on a single HPF2, where the clear word was that 12 was the absolute cut-off. No Tech or CA is showing in that thread (per now 7.8.06 08:36am CET stat). Inconclusive result - now re-sent 5 times....

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

They just keep gashing at their own throat.
1) Locking into no stickys when there is a clear need for stickys.
2) Failing to email US users concerning the 60% throttle, not ONE sensible explanation for that.
3) Turning on HPF2 on a Friday afternoon and letting it run wild until Monday. Seems they never heard of testing with a small group. Seems like they've never heard of a lot of things everybody else has.
4) Deleting my posts, that just proves they can't stand the truth. I doubt very little science is really going on there.

Didactylos, continue to toe the party line, you do it well. Who knows the party might even make you GrupenCruncher one day.

Take care, Sek. I'm saddling up and riding out in search of a project that cares for its crunchers and shoots straight. None of that happening here.

Not so fast Dag, I'm Sticky as the Sticky Notes we're wanting on this forum, no capital offense.

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

I have to agree with the party line, this time. It's much more important that the project work right than that we have stickies. Stickies are useful, but not the point of all this crunching; the science is key and should have priority.

If they were to promptly, fully, and effectively communicate to the users that the reason they haven't had a chance to fix the project bugs yet is that they were busy redoing the forum code, I for one would not consider that a win.

The science comes first, and support infrastucture gets worked on between times.

And BTW, from a purely pragmatic point of view, being a jerk rarely gets you what you want. It just ticks people off, and if anything, biases them against whatever you were saying. If there was a killfile feature in this oh-so agonizingly obsolete travesty of a forum, this tantrum would've earned you a plonk or two. raised eyebrow

Re: No Sticky, No Crunchy !!

Hi Dagorath.

I'm not ignoring you; real life intervened for a time.

Your posts weren't deleted, they were moved. They may be deleted, and they will almost certainly be locked, but that may take a while since it's the weekend. You see, you broke the forum rules. No offtopic posts. All your posts were moved to Suggestions/Feedback, where they are clearly a load of duplicates and ripe for pruning.

You're letting emotion carry you away again. Sure, WCG aren't perfect, and they make mistakes. Since I'm a CA, I give them feedback and lobby in private, since castigating them in public won't help improve anything. You have this forum to make your voice heard, and you can also us "Contact Us" to submit your suggestions directly.

Breaking the rules then flouncing out in a hissy fit will get your agenda totally ignored. So, what you do is entirely up to you.

I hope the discussions we have had over the past weeks have demonstrated that there are more than one side to the issues you raise. WCG may not have made the optimal choice, but they had good reasons for the choices they made. I'm not going to rehash all the arguments and reasoning here; you can always search the archives if you have forgotten.

In summary: feel free to continue being a thorn in the side of WCG. You may improve things, and will certainly voice the concerns of the really dedicated crunchers out there. WCG need that kind of feedback.

Forgive him... Its Stampede weekend.

He tried to Stampede Team Canada when he first arrived and in typical fashion, he is at it again. He sounds like a little boy suffering from delusions of grandeur and importance.

That being said... I reiterate a suggestion I made last year. An iggy Button for the Forums so we can iggy some folks who love to hear themselves.
