Hey, I detached WCG a few months ago (along with many other projects), and have decided to reattach a few. Tonite, I attached to QMC, Leiden, Predictor, Sztaki, Primegrid, and Ufluids. I attempted to attach using "http://worldcommunitygrid.org/", my username and password. I got and "attachment failed message", and I see the following in my message log:
7/5/2006 10:24:10 PM||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 7/5/2006 10:24:11 PM||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. 7/5/2006 10:24:15 PM|http://worldcommunitygrid.org/|Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) 7/5/2006 10:24:15 PM|http://worldcommunitygrid.org/|Deferring scheduler requests for 30 minutes and 17 seconds any ideas? |

I should probably add that I've been with Boinc since day two of it's official opening, am a Boinc Alpha tester, and spend much time helping others get running, but I don't have an answer for this one.

This has happened on each of the 4 hosts I tried. It worked for all the others so I assume it has something to do with the URL or my preference settings? |

Ah, an easy question ;-)
It's a problem with the alpha version you are using. Downgrade or upgrade, and the problem will go away. The reason WCG fails when the others work is because WCG require SSL for secure communication with the server. |

I'm using 5.5.4 (the most recent). If it's not compatible with WCG then I should be telling Rom about this.

It's a known issue. It's already fixed in the development version.

all the links in first post are without www....... Could be you put it in the BOINC during linking, but thats for you to know

Thanks everyone. I must have missed the dev email on this issue. I'll hold off on attaching till Rom kicks out 5.5.6, after all I'm supposed to be finding bugs with this version, LOL. Shouldn't be long.
