HPF2 is a new project. Everybody is added automatically to new projects. You can opt out if you want. Simply deselect the new project in My Projects, then click save.

I remember your other thread. I recall you got a complete answer from retsof and me, explaining that the large download is caused by new versions of the crunching software. Perhaps I failed to explain that the FightAIDS software was updated as well, increasing the download size.

If you want to cancel the HPF2 work unit early, then start up the WCG client again. Open Task Manager and find the 'wcg_hpf2_rosetta.exe' process. Select it and click the 'End Process' button.

That will get you back working on FightAIDS@Home only - until the next project launch.

Thank You. Never used Task Manager before. Had to look in Microsoft Help to find out how to access it. My agent now says "Preparing to Send Results." I doubt there are any results. I also deselected Human Proteome from Device Manager/ Profile. We'll see what comes up next.

This Proteome task has been stuck at 43% for hours. You have not explained why the time went from 24+ Hours to 14+ hours to 4+ hours, all while remaining at 43%. Doesn't matter to me, I'm not running big programs. That's why I stopped SETI. I want 12 to 24-hour or so turnaround. That way, if there's a problem, I don't waste days of computer time.

I appreciate that you tried to explain the "problem" to me. BUT--I don't have any 900K byte programs installed. So what the Grid was attempting to download is moot. I could clearly read a figure, like 879,342, close enough to 900K. It stayed frozen for five hours or so, unlike most downloads which are so fast (instantaneous) the bytes are difficult to read. So thanks for your previous answer, but it doesn't explain why it froze, nor is there evidence as to what was attempting to download. Again, it's your problem, not mine. Just reporting what I saw, which downgraded my computer performance as well.

I would prefer to be asked if I wish to sign up for a new project, rather than finding it executing on my PC. I seldom visit the forums, unless I have a problem. I don't want problems. I want FightAIDS to run in background as often as possible, and not give me any hassle. I'm doing my part by donating my computer processing time. If there are too many problems, I will simply opt out, until y'all can get the snafus fixed.

it's good you're telling the people here about the problems, they don't know untill someone tells them.

that was strange indeed, that your hours would be going down! and if a download stopped before it was complete, that is strange too.

we have to keep going anyway so they can get more information from us and fix these things.
