za052_ 00318 has now been sent out a further 5 times since the original quorum results came back inconclusive - how many more attempts are likely to be made before the server gives up and call it quits? - and are we likely to still get credit if it does?

Plz see this thread 24 hours and 0% completion?.
----------------------------------------The ultimate number of 'Inconclusives' may be 5, thus if 3 were done by v HPF2-5.06 then only at 5 with HPF2-5.07 will cause it to go quits....be patient knreed, alther or one of the C.A.'s know the defenitive answer to the number, but 5 sticks in my mind for a single WU crunched with the same software version.. ....regrettably this Q of did not have the A in it ![]()

Yep - seen that thread, was just wondering if there was a definative amount of attempts before a unit is withdrawn, and if in those circumstances you still got credited. ....regrettably this Q of did not have the A in it ![]() ![]() |

MaitreYoda.....dont know how to say it in French and not sure of English either, but many a moon ago had 2 books. Comprehending English and English Comprehensive.....at least 1 of your 6 was done with 5.06. If you bold the one you crunched in the list of 6 and go back to your BOINC log, you could see which version you processed it with...if its 5.06, you know to answer from above.
----------------------------------------Good luck at the Semi's....you're on French side are you ![]()

We require either 3 results or a majority of results, whichever is greater, in order for a quorum to be determined for a workunit.
This means: # results in set # to results equal to reach a quorum 3 3 4 3 5 3 6 4 7 4 8 5 9 5 10 6 11 6 12 7 after 12 we shutdown the workunit. Please note this limit has never been reached. The worst case possible: 2 results returned by 5.06 and the third result was sent to a computer that didn't compute the result correctly due to overclocking or some other factor (this is why we have redundency). Only 2 results agree so a fourth result is sent out. It is processed with 5.07. It is returned. Still only 2 results agree. A fifth workunit goes out. It is returned. Still only 2 results agree (but now there are two sets of two in agreement). A sixth result goes out. It is returned. Now 3 results agree - however - we now require 4 results to agree. A seventh result goes out. It comes back and we have 4 that agree and validation should occur. Please note that if one of the 4 processed under 5.07 is overclocked and computes a different result this could go higher. We are in an unusual situation and we very much apologize for this occuring. Over the next few days this will stablize and return to normal. Kevin |
