Re: What happened to CUBA?

May I suggest an easier route:
The cool CIA cool Word factbook (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/)
has a complete list of countries that also looks suspiciously similar to the country list used by the WCG project (before the WCG list was 'cleaned').

liar If the CIA can publicly admit that there is a country called coffee CUBA coffee , why can't IBM? liar

Re: What happened to CUBA?

Robert,
got a Crunch stuck somewhere?

Watch the Country list to see if it grows.

I checked the country list and as of December 9, 6:50 am PST at least the following countries are not on it: Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Lybia, North Korea, Serbia and Montenegro, Sudan.
In addition, I actually contacted WCG admin in the matter and would assume they send me an e-mail once they change the list. (Maybe assuming common courtesy is unreasonable?)

The link to the CIA World factbook is in the original post, anyone going to the trouble of actually looking at it will find the similarity to the WCG list, and please don't tell me that you believe that somehow from the list of countries, the WCG project accidentally FORGOT to include PRECISELY those states that are/were considered Rogue States by the US government.

All mouth and no PROOF

I was/am demanding Proof of this "List Cleansing".
You have accused {for whatever motive) WCG of purging the
list. I accuse you of spinning lies! PERIOD
Show Some proof from WCG or an "Honest" source. !!Something.!!
Seems you've a crunchie or two rattling in the emptiness there.
Show US proof WCG cleaned it, and that their source for the software was different.
Maybe they got this copy from the Patriot grid. That would explain Cuba..
MAYBE the http://www.myvietnam.net/ people wrote it that way. The Country List
could be a common open source program module.
You I think, simply Don't.
Then more Distortion.
"the WCG project accidentally FORGOT to include PRECISELY those states that are/were considered Rogue States by the US government."

This statement accuses WCG of writing Countries out of the software.
(I think they got the software that way and are in the process of Tweaking it.)
I think you are, in some twisted way trying to Demonize WCG. Why?
For not paying attention to your smart assed posts?
(That and some other issues we'll no doubt find out about..)
Now all I asked for was PROOF.
All you seemed to offered was more attack and side step.

G-Day

Re: What happened to CUBA?

some countries are not included in the country list, and a site admin has responded to indicate that they will be added. The questions we should be asking are have they been added yet, and if not, when will they be added.

The jokes about the US use of military force may be ok in some forums, but not this one. All members should treat each other with respect.

This forum and this project provide an opportunity to build bridges and make connnections to people in all countries around the world. There are already plenty of things that divide and polarize us, create hostility, and reinforce mistaken stereotypes, please do not turn the WCG into another one.

Last post here with out some PROOF.

He got silly crap back in return for offering on more
than sleazy innuendo. He can't just walk away and its OK!
I was, and am offended by even weak attempts to cast
shadows or falsehoods at WCG. (and therefore me and you.)
Talk bad: Lie, forget to add facts, what ever. (You post it you play.)
Hitting WGC with LIES when they are scrambling to get
it right is not at all friendly behavior either. Sir

Capt Crunch,

It is too bad you feel the need to resort to calling me names like whiny, weak and apologetic. I guess you can do so since this place has no moderators or posting rules. If you think you have insulted me or that the force of your powerful argument will convert me, then I think you may have misjudged me. I would have stayed out of this thread, but spoke up when someone slandered my country to portray it as one that would invade or nuke other countries indiscriminately. Unfortunately, many people around the world share your opinion of my country, but that is not really what the USA is like. I do not want to hijack this already hijacked thread and turn it into a political discussion, this forum is not the right place for that topic.

I do not expect anyone to fall into lockstep behind me or anything else. Instead, I hope that people will be open minded and think for themselves. But I do think that in this forum, members who disagree should at least show other members respect, and not use insulting terms such as silly, sleazy, weak, whiny, etc. as you have done. Since there are no moderators or posting rules, then I suppose you are free to be as insulting and confrontational as you like. Unfortunately, continued flame wars in the forums will likely force the WCG staff to intervene and moderate, which will reduce the amount of time they can spend on actual productive work on the project.

Re: What happened to CUBA?

Wow, I'm getting too old for this.

My mistake. I shouldn't have blamed IBM, WCG, United Devices, or anyone in particular for cleansing the list. Because I don't really know who took those particular countries out. Can we agree on the following points?:

1) Some countries are missing.
2) SOMEONE took them off the list.

Even the following one should be agreeable to everyone:
Since it appears that countries weren't randomly deleted (see list of countries in a previous post), we can assume there is a motive behind the cleansing.

We'll leave it at that for premises that everyone should be able to agree to before we step on anyone's toe.

But at least read the following:

SOMEONE took these countries off that list.
Whoever is responsible for that is an (insert your favorite)
Now, the person who programmed this WCG feature for United Devices, IBM, or whoever, PROBABLY (benefit of the doubt) got this list from somewhere else. OK, we're assuming that the cleansing wasn't an internal thing but got copied from somewhere else. BUT: HE/SHE should have checked the list for completeness. HIS/HER supervisor should have checked the list/feature for completeness. The company in charge should have checked the product before unleashing it at strange astronoids that like Cuba. So much for the blame game.

I'm not really interested in bitching at people. All I want is a complete list of countries (call me crazy). I sent two e-mails to the project from the "contact us" page (can't even remember where that is) and just pointed out the obvious (I even was polite). The second e-mail was sent about 4 days after the 1st one because I hadn't heard from anyone. I still haven't heard anything (10 days?). I'd wouldn't mind a reply to my e-mail. (hey! politeness is nice). A post in a forum is ok, but hey, the (complete) CIA list of countries is available on the internet, how long can it take?

We'll see
coffee

devilish
Darn astronoid, it seems your a likable person after all. rolling eyes
I agree with the last post fully. I think your Right.
Somehow I seem to have lost my last post to joatmon.
I could have sworn I posted it. It was nice, really!
Ah I have it here... Remember I wrote it just after
joatmon's last post above.

Time Out...
So joatmon
The fact is we Crunchers are all in lockstep together through the software.
Actually the task you've chosen is: keeping "us users in line" here on the Forum. As raw as
it is here, you have held the line, and kept the faith. WCG Staff and users "all", owe
you for your time here policing us. (without any other authority than your common courtesy
and common sense.) And folks I'm not blowing any smoke at him))
Still I got'a be me...... So it's back to Capt Crunch He He...

LOL OK OK!!
(my last post here)
That's Right joatmon, it's the Wild Wild West! Your attitude is admirable.
But, it was all Just about my opinion. And you know what they're like!!
Seems to me you want to become involved in the forum.
Your "NICE" enough, That's for sure. AND You seem to have
a "Politically Correct" attitude. (that's another plus.)
Also very important, You seem to have the time so... Good Luck!
Lets see... I called you Nice, and Politically Correct.
I better watch it, Maybe you'll become a powerful "Mod!" OMG!
Be afraid, be very, very, Afraid! LOL then again Maybe your Niceness
will rub off on me.. Do ya think?? ;)

It's all about the CRUNCH'N!
