Unfortunately is still under copyright protection which is absurd

We should be proud of that logo not legally restricted in it's use. It's a nonsense that the IBM lawyers are still twiddling their thumbs over this - it's 19th Months into the project Hey if we had a PC twiddling it's thumbs that long we'd load WCG onto it  As I said at the beginning absurd Dave  |

Shortly after the WCG started up and we ran into the lawyer problem, I suggested that we create an unofficial logo for the WCG that emphasized the globe rather than the grid. Graham has created one. Alain Bryden created several with spinning globes (not suitable for printing). I still think that that is the better way to go, rather than waiting for lawyers to give up intellectual property.

We can always jump the gun and create banner ads based on the official logo, submitting them directly to WCG. If they have some decent artwork ready to roll, it may make it that bit easier to get the legal framework in place.
At the moment, as I understand it, any use of the logo must be pre-approved by WCG, must meet the logo guidelines, must use the official artwork, and must not appear on merchandise. This mean it is possible to use the logo to promote WCG, but since the guidelines aren't published publicly, it's [adjective] difficult. |
