Lately, I began to think herpes is a pretty common virus that about 1/4 of the population in the United States has. Although, not life threatening generally in most cases however it can do some bad things never the less.
Just a thought I had as I stare at a potentially new gift that itches like crazy right now. I fully support the HIV research being done as it is far more critical then viral herpes research if a choice would have to be made between the two. I'm sure we could find something better then some salt treatment, baking soda or some lame meds that currently do little to nothing for herpes outbreaks. |

I agree that these should also be investigated. Not life threatening but annoying as they are. There is plenty of computing time available so why not use some?

Last year I sent emails to several herpes researchers about submitting a proposal for using this project. I myself did not get a single reply. I don't know if any of them ever contacted WCG.
----------------------------------------This was the link I sent them: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_showcase/viewSubmitAProposal.do Perhaps you can get better results than I did? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 24, 2006 8:50:42 PM] |

Herpes Simplex or Herpes Giganticus.....the outbreaks you will have until the day you die
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm starting to itch at the edge of my right eye from a secondary Herpes Zooster attack I had nearly thirty years ago just to see the content of this thread. In my mother tongue, Norwegian, secondary Herpes Zooster attacks are called "Helvetes ild" litterary translated: "Fire of Hell". I can assure that's a very appropriate name. If something practical could be done in this field, please assign me some WUs. Wood chopper = Vedhoggaren |
