Re: Better Multi-Processor support

The WCG should take a long hard look at the multiproccesor issue because in the future it looks like Intel is going to a dual core design on its next generation CPU's.

We are and are already working on solutions.

Re: Better Multi-Processor support

i'll hope that a Solution will be available quickly. Until this is done i'll stay on www.zetagrid.net (because almost 90% of the computers i could add to the wcg are sized from 2 to 8 processors).

Ellwart,

It is a pity that you can use this processing power for helping us out.

Would it not be possible for you to contribute the other 10% which I suppose are uniprocessor ?

Re: Better Multi-Processor support

Or even better Ellwart. Run WCG on all those computers. It will use 50% (2cpu) to 11% (8cpu) of the systems but still a full processor worth of work.

Re: Better Multi-Processor support

i think the developers should have a look on the distributed.net's clients. they provide:
- perfect control over the work untis to load
- detailed connections setup
- optimized cores for every processor type
- multithreading on mp machines
- full linux support with source code
and i can set up a server on my router wich feeds my network.
also the stats section is worth a closer look.
this is state of the art in gridcomputing, since many years(!).
united devices, dont forget admins and nerds, they have lots of computer power too and want to have a tool, not a screensaver.

Re: Better Multi-Processor support

Indeed. I currently have 300 machines i can put to good use rather than sitting idle.
