Mssr. Viktors needs to advise on 'Agent Paused' error in the main Help link &/or the 'Read Only annoc. . I was about to tear apart my Firewall and Router because HPF1 is Complet[ing], plus many 'Re-boots' and checks and troubleshooting. When I saw the constant D/L of 3xxkB and checked 6/20/06 results,,, I selected BOTH UD/projects and Off we go again 'Crunching'.
ps: Is there a way to ramp down the processor requirements during a 'Heat-Wave' ?? 69 deg.C is too hot ! |

Yes for UD setting the throttle variable in the environment: Wcgrid_Max_CPU add and set in whole percentages...had it on 95.
----------------------------------------No for BOINC, but i'd image that if you have a dual core, you'd be able to limit the crunch to 50%. No idea if it has a temperature effect if only 1 core is running at 100%. If you have a temp problem, you could also install Speedfan. It reads temperatures and on modern systems can increase / decrease fanspeeds so that your system will be running a flat temp as per your instruction....i've got it on 60C, never waivering....the box is 4+ year old to give an indication of "modern".

Hello CajunQuEeN,
If you are running the UD client, you can throttle back to reduce temperature: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2683 I do not think that we have implemented this for BOINC yet. It's getting warm and rainy here in SC, with regular power outages as limbs come down. My driveway got blocked a couple of hours ago by 2 large limbs. Keep cool, Lawrence |
